need to replace the battery on my X1 and when doing so I am wanting to relocate it with the smallest battery as possible. I would love to go with something like the Ballistic 8 cell EVO, but its only 4.6 Ah / 240 CCA. They recommend their 12 cell minimum for the Buell @ 6.4 Ah / 360 CCA. Another battery i found and would fit perfect (but SUPER expensive) is rated at 250 CCA, and 6 Ah !! Im guessing the higher the CCA and Ah the better... but what is the minimum that i could get away with?? I do ride in cold weather sometimes as well... or are all of these too small??? thanks (Message edited by purpony on March 18, 2013) (Message edited by purpony on March 18, 2013) |

Shorai sponsored an 1190RS last year. There was lots of discussion a few months back on the 1125 board. |

So you got four, or five variables? Size, as in physical bulk. Weight. CCA rating. Cost. Made in USA. |

I've been using YTZ10S batteries for several years. They are 8.6AH and 190CCA. They last about two years...the same as anything else I've used. 240-250CCA seems like it'd be plenty. |

That's funny as hell since mine was on its second battery by the time it had reached 10 months! |

The original battery in my S1 made it six years. All others have been two. |

thanks for the replies... the battery in my bike is original to when i bought it in 2008... and who knows how old it was then. As of right now I found a battery im going with. its 6.6Ah and 330CA... I guess the Ah of lithium is rated differently then a standard battery. We will see how it works. |

A few months back I got a 260cca 6A for my 2000 X1 because it was cheaper and available. On a full charge it would start up but sounded like it was dead. I recently replaced it with the OEM. work great. My bike is a serial battery killer though always has been. |

Check your stator. Mine had poorly repaired pinched wires in its harness from the factory. Check for shorts and static resistance and disconnect the harness, stretch it out full length, and feel for lumps. |
