Well the snowball this thing is still rolling down hill. One thing leads to another and I just can't stop it now. Going to have the header done up with a stainless look. Supposed to resist heat and discoloring. I will post back when I get it back with lots of pictures.. |

I have had silver ceramic done locally and at Jet Hot. The local stuff is very good depending where you go but Jet Hot is by far the best I have seen. Especially when they also coat the inside. You will be pleased. |

I added a coated header and the difference on your leg is unbelievable. I could take off the Heat Shield for looks, no problem. I recommend this for all tube-framed bikes, most especially the '98 and earlier. It would make even more noticeable difference on those. |

I had a rusty KT pipe for years and sent it to Jet Hot. It turned out so good I sent them my frame. Love the silver. I was able to take off my heat shield too. |

I think jet hot told me about $200.00 that was for black. I would like to have BUELL in white or blue on the black header. |

Arizona - speaking of "snowballs"...here is how mine went....I broke my original header completely in half at the collector...needed to buy a new one and Al at American Sport Bike had a bran d new never been beat up sitting on the shelf so I bought it....well my x1 has been jet hot coated so I knew it should be done...might as well send it off...but as long as the header is off I ought to finally do the cam cover under cut...and since you have to pull the push rods I might as well replace the gaskets with the new ones... and as long as I am replacing gaskets I ought to go ahead and do the XB cover conversion...and as long as I am doing the conversion I need a catch can...ought to go ahead and get a nice billet one....as long as I am pulling the bolts on the carb mount I might as well finally put on the really cool round billet air cleaner....with carbon fiber inserts of course....and as long as the cam cover is off I ought to have it finished in black and as long as the ignition cover is off I might as well design and install a custom ignition cover (I designed a nice Ace Cafe cover....so....rabbit holes and snowballs....OUCH!!!! all because some knuckle head jacked up the header install the last time......If you ask me a broken header costs as much as another bike..... |

Now that is a funny story right there.. My original intention was to just fix the engine and get this beast back on the road. HOWEVER, since the engine was out might as well powder coat the frame. That was the beginning and now I have replaced almost everything with as many new parts as I could find. I am now waiting for the items I have polished to come back from nickel as well as the rest of the items I sent out for black powder coating that I didn't want to polish. It would take some major bandwidth to post all I have done and am doing. This thing should be SHOW quality before it is all over with. The thing is I am really enjoying doing this build as I have always been a fan of the tube frame bikes Ducks included.. |

So I got my header back today from Jet Hot, What a nice change. However I had a minor setback as they could not put flames on it due to the bends. That was the surprise but oh well it looks great. Now I have to polish the muffler. |

Soooo shiny!!!! That Borla should touch right up with some semi-chrome paste or another light polishing cream since they were produced with a nicely polished finish. Gonna look great! (Too bad about the flames. I've thought about etching flames or a Buell Pegasus in on my polished pipe with a pen style sand-blaster, then polishing over the top of that). |

That's a good price. I'm thinking about trying these guys for my truck manifolds: http://rukse.com/coatings/ They wanted $220-250 for both exhaust manifolds (I forget exactly how much he quoted last week, they are local so wait time would be minimal for me). They said their polished aluminum finish requires maintenance, needs to be buffed every so often, I don't think the Jet-hot needs that do they? Still on the fence about doing it at all. |

Looks great, I fad thought about doing it also. Did you prep it at all or did you just send them a stock header right off the bike? |

That is truly nice, what was the bit about them not being able to use flame? What does the flame do? I thought they coat it bake it then polish it? Did you have inside done too? |

Yes inside and outside. Sent it just as it was very ugly. They were going to put flames on it from the head out in two colors but couldn't make it happen due to the bends in the pipes. Was supposed to go from orange to yellow that would have been sweet. Oh well looks way better now anyway. |

Hey Mark, is there not a local Jet Hot? I have a buddy in Chandler that has had a bunch of stuff done locally and I thought for sure it was local. In any event, I am in Cave Creek and get down to Chandler at least once a month. Maybe we could get together for a coffee some time. steve |
