Well, we ran late on the "January" tech article because quite honestly, we didn't get the desired results the first time. Well, we got it done. We upgraded the Buell XB9r suspension and it turned out awesome. Go to www.roadracinghelp.com to read the article. Thanks, Marcus McBain Previous thread - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/43738.html?1075766394 |

Marcus good article... but oh I could tell ya the secret on getting the fan out without tilting the engine. Its in the manual anyway so it ain't really a secret. but you might want to learn it just to save ya some time on the next on you do. |

Well, tell me now!!! I think we spent 10-15 minutes before cutting the tab on the fan. Marcus |

So Mark, I see on your site that you got the whole bodywork, but I haven't seen any pics of this yet. C'mon man, gotta start flaunting those sponsors now! Oh yeah, there was some other hinting to a yet unnamed performance mod, and I'm mostly just curious. |

marcus that fan is like a woman...lightly finess it in the way it wants and she'll come out...a twist here and a pull there... sometimes innuendos are so fun |

Well, you can email me if it is that secretive otherwise I am cutting when I get them. We found no way to get it out without un-bolting several items that were too time restrictive. I think I will just start putting no information in my tech articles and just say it is fast, now here is what it costs... |

ok I have teased you enuff. take out those little mounting screws. rotate the fan clockwise(looking towards the front of the bike) and gently wiggle and pull and she'll come out. you only have to turn it about 1/2 inch or so. install it in the reverse order and turn it back counter clockwise. I like that "its fast and easy and heres the cost" freakin texans are just crazy |

It can be confusing when the "tease" outweighs the substance |

I tell you what, it is times like these that I think the approximately $500,000.00 I spent roadracing over the last 17 years actually was worth it... Really, the bike was a good package. It really handled great. Mark and I might work out a deal where I ride it a few races a weekend. That would be really nice. Marcus

Marcus, thats really great you like the Buell. Tell ya what, I will be gracious enough to bring mine to the track for you to ride around. Only catch is you gotta throw in the suspension package like Mark has. Just kiddin man, unless, you know, you dont mind givin away an expensive suspension package like that. --Phil |

Now that the heat from the cooling fan has died down, here is a few more thoughts from me. Some have asked me in emails if they had similar suspension work done, what would it do for them....benefits to street rider.....etc? Overall, if a track-day junkie or aggressive street riding is part of your current/future plans, then a similar suspension change to mine will improve your ride in a way that complements and significantly improves the bikes original intentions – A sharp handling, real-world bike + it will help to pick-up your corner speed big time, you just supply the testosterone!! All the extra power you can afford to put into the motor, will not make it corner any faster and that’s where this bike belongs, on the corners of a twisty county road or a tight racetrack. If you are not someone who explores the last half inch of tire tread, then for sure, spend your money elsewhere – but why did you buy a Buell then ? Mark. |

Marcus, I'd love to see you go up against the SV's and make a good showing. In fact I'd pay to see that. Got anything for Mr. Falt? |

Blake, Funny you should mention that. I talked to Scott Levine and was bragging on the Buell (Don't tell anybody ) and his interest got real high. I told Mark if it is raining, I would like to race the Buell in the Red River Challenge. I think I could win the damn thing on that bike. We'll see. If I didn't make my living at the track, it would be easier for me to make commitments to race. Marcus |

If you do manage to "plan" a race on the Buell, please let us know. There are a few of us here locals itchin to see the Buell in Action. Mark - best of luck in the season this year. Are you going to be at the TWS race on 3/14? --Phil |

Yes Phil I will be at TWS on 14 March – My best track as this is where I've done the most laps. I do hope Marcus will ride the Buell at some races. It will help put the anti Buell BS to rest that we all sometimes face especially in the racing community. Only thing about lending someone your bike is that its like watching your wife/girlfriend go out on a “Were only friends” dinner with another man. You want to trust both of them, but you cant sleep until she is home safe, well and not smelling of cheap after shave with her panties in her purse!! Now if Marcus does race my Buell, then who is sponsoring who ? Mark.

You know, I think Mark is right. Mark was ripping at Oak Hill, I think I'll keep focused on helping Mark go faster... |
