I was talking with my plater about some options and nickel was one he said was a good choice. I have some that I glass beaded because there were so many tight spots. It usually doesn't rain much and I have three bikes so this one should be safe from the rain unless I am away from home and it rains. Then I guess it will be in the rain. At some point, it will come loose. Maybe YEARS, but it will come loose. Depends on what alloy the aluminum is, actually.   Arizona_buell Posted on Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 09:18 pm:        Well I got another box of nickel yesterday, a smaller box this time. almost everything that was not powder coted was glass beaded or polished and sent out for nickel. I am very pleased with the results so far. Hard to appreciate it in these pictures but I will post a few. If I am boring some of you I am sorry, for the rest I have a lot of pictures of this rebuild. And I am going to have a lot more.   Buell_bert Posted on Friday, March 01, 2013 - 03:30 am:        Nickel plating is great. Just like many things it is the prep work that really makes it NICE. My Brother has and still does nickel plating and it is a science. Long lasting but not the same as chrome. I think nickel is better but I also prefer hard chrome plating to show chrome. Of course it really depends on your use and money available.
