What are all the different sources of engine vibes other than ISOs? Already replaced them all. Vibes are strongest between 3-4k rpm under moderate to heavy acceleration, but never really go away. Frequency increases with rpm. Vibes don't feel metallic, but muted like something is out of balance in the engine. I don't think its a tire; ran it to 80mph and pulled in the clutch and vibe went away when engine settled down to idle. I ran a recent post considering the possibility of a bad shock not being able to help dampen engine vibes transferred through the shock via the front mount. After the 140 miles yesterday, I'm beginning to doubt that possibility. I need help chasing this down. Thanx in advance for your collective expertise! |

All new ISOs came from American Sport Bike. Not sure what the HD part# would be, if they are HD parts. |

As long as all the mounts were torqued correctly, only other thing to check is the tie bars and make sure none are loose. Take some pics of the isolators in your bike now and post them. |

Make sure the vibs aren't coming from the exhaust. If it's touching the frame anywhere your going to get vibs. At the rear pipe where it goes under the frame rail also where it mounts in the front by the shock mount and last where your muffler hanger goes. |

After some closer inspection yesterday, the drive belt is waaaaay loose; I can see where it has been rubbing the top of the motor mount. I also checked the primary chain tension and it was a bit loose as well. After I make the adjustments and have a chance to ride it, I hope this will improve matters. |

The drive belt needs to be way loose on a tuber ......if you have the cast aluminium swingarm you should be able to get the belt to touch the top and bottom of the arm at the same time. |

Suspend the rear of the bike (hang from a gallows) then remove the rear mounting bolt from the shock allowing the swinging arm to travel through it's full range of motion. Rotate the rear wheel to ensure the belt is a free and loose fit through the arc of swing-arm. I did this and my belt easily touches the bottom on the swing-arm. |

Well not issolator, but thought I would mention after my friend serviced my stock heads & decked bottom of barrel to get 40thou swish band & fit 1.72 ratio SE rockers & new hamstrings rings on stock cleaned up pistons. One of the first things I noticed was the motor felt much smoother at 3 to 4k & over also more responcive |

Due to a leaking head gasket, I just had the top end freshened w/all new gaskets, seals, rings, etc. All carbon buildup was removed and the cylinders honed. I was hoping that this would smooth out the vibes, but it didn't. She runs much better, but the vibes are still there. I'm looking for sources of vibes other than the ISOs so I can check possible source. Thanx for the input! |
