Hi. Might be getting back into the Buell game. I'm going to be looking at '98 S1 White lightning. Is there a way to make sure it's the real deal (vin #?) instead of a conversion? ThAnks. |

look at the vin; 4MZ "_ _" "SS" = S1 "YS" = S1W plus the 10th character should of course be a W for model year 98 (only year for S1W) the engine code should start with either SS or YS (rest same as steering head VIN) (Message edited by sleez on February 06, 2013) (Message edited by sleez on February 06, 2013) (Message edited by sleez on February 06, 2013) |

It's real easy to stick a manta tank and change exhaust on a bike, I'm sure Frank just wants to know what he's looking at. There are others who've converted later models, splicing on S1 tails and such (like me). If you are buying from an unscrupulous seller, who knows what they'll tell you to try and get more, or off-load a busted bike for more than it's really worth. |

People buy from people. If you have any doubts about your seller and his/her morals in this situation, just walk away. |
