Ok, so i know the instruction manual makes everything pretty clear, but i'm not an auto electrician... I'm trying to install a gammatronix battery monitor (the single 3-colour LED type) and i'm just wondering which wires to piggy back the black, red, and yellow wires onto. Black is negative, red positive, and yellow is power with ignition on BUT do i need to run the wires all the way back under the seat?? Is there a supply i can piggy back at the front of the bike. I'd like some specific info on what works before i start cutting and soldering. some pictures of what other users have done would be great too. thanks in advance |

The wires don't need to be connected to the battery. Any plus (hot at all times) circuit will work. Any plus (hot) with key on will work (such as for power socket.) IMO the best way to connect wires, is to use crimp connectors with shrink tubing and heat activated sealant. |

I installed a Gammatronix 5mm single tri-colour LED (model K) exactly a year ago. I connected the red and the black wires to the corresponding wires of the power socket. The yellow 'loop' wire is for selecting the operation mode, like a jumper. Close/intact: level indicator mode. Open/cut: charging mode. |

Gammatronix state that for the "best results" the Pos and Neg should be run to the battery. I put the Neg to the main Earth point on the steering head and the Pos to a Live line I had fitted for the air horn. This goes direct to the battery. And the yellow to the power socket Live feed. The main thing to remember is that even though the volts say the battery is ok it still needs to be charged right first. It will, of course, still show a bike charge problem and the main reason for fitting one for me. |

Cheers for the input guys. I ended up running a live wire from the battery, the same as Ulymans setup. I figured this would give the most accurate results. I hope this little bit of tech means one less potential afternoon roadside. ride on.... |
