welcome to Bad web. Nice bagger! Are the rockers using the external oil lines or have you converted? I like yellow too! |

You should put some of these on there when you're done

Thanks for the welcome. Yes external oil lines. I ran one to each box. Bought that bike from my Uncle years ago and he bought it new from dealer. Dewalt is cool but my wife thinks it will need Steelers stickers. Black and yellow yes but probably not Steelers. |

Well I am getting closer now to finishing this engine. Frame looks good now so time to decide about the swingarm and front forks. I am thinking about black powder coat for the forks and swingarm and some of the small parts that are black now. What do you think? [IMG]

Swing arms look real sharp done in black, do the mounting block too while you're at it. (Message edited by littlebuggles on February 03, 2013) |

For sure I guess I just figured that was considered all one piece. I have left nothing to chance on this rebuild. I replaced the oil pump drive gear and the primary chain tensioner as well. No pic of the bronze gear but here is the new tensioner next to the old one. I painted the starter with some wrinkle black looks pretty good. Should blend in there nicely. I am considering Powder coating the triple trees and lower forks and possibly upper forks too black when / if I do the swingarm assembly. I have some other small parts too that could use refreshed black. |

Painting the starter wrinkle black is a fantastic idea. |

Thank you it blends in there well. I didn't want it to stand out in there I have other things planned to dress up the engine area. I am having a good time with this build. Thanks for looking. Stay tuned it will be complete someday soon. |

Good to see you last night. the frame looks great. I think the forks and the swing arm done in black would look good. I am wanting to do a Ducati Red Frame, black forks and swing arm. |

the x1 always looked better with the tail section painted to match the frame. |

another question for you. I had heard that the x1 had a lighter crank than the other buells. buell was experimenting, I believe. you had mentioned you were changing out the cranks....did you put in the same crank? |

Thanks Rex. The Crankshaft was rebuilt as were the rods,so same thing that was in it is in it. I have the polished PM wheels. This is what I started with, a $500.00 dollar barely running bike. I am going to go with the black swingarm and pivot, just not sure about the forks yet I would like them black but I have to talk to powder coating guys to see how far they need to come apart. I could mask the upper part above the lower triple clamp and the slider and black the rest including the top clamp and such. Stay tuned it will get good soon.. Yes It was good to see some folks come out last night, now we just need to get more and go ride..I plane to get a group together for the next first Friday on Central March First. So anyone here is welcome to go.. |

O.K. hope your not sick of it yet. I decided to do the black powder coat to these parts. Too much work to polish them all. However I did remove all the seams off of the cast parts so they should look good after powder coating. I hope this is it for the powder coat, I am in deep already :-) gonna have to keep this one for my Grandson so I don't loose my A$$ on this one.. Good thing we are working 60 hour weeks. Stay tuned because this snowball is rolling down a steep hill now and nothing is gonna stop it. |

Well with a little modification to the front wheel clamp this should be a welcome addition to the garage. Not top of the line by any means but still nice. I shouldn't have to crawl around on the floor to get this Buell back together.

IMHO: Instead of the "clamp", which will scratch your wheels, let your bike fall or both . Pick up a cycle stand from H-freight and bolt it to the lift. It's adjustable, safe and works perfect for most bikes. Let me know if you want detailed pictures.

Yep that is what some of the folks on another sight are doing. I have not seen the exact one you have but the one similar that clamps the tire in similar to yours. |

I like the clamp you have there. I started doing something a little different today after work. I added 1/2" aluminum to the vise jaws. Then I am going to weld some channel Iron to the front stop to catch the tire. If this doesn't work out I can unbolt it all and get one of those things like you have there. Thanks for the input. Nice bike by the way. Mine is about ready to put together. The mark on there is from the rubber. |
