So I bought my '06 new and have done so much work to it but the good thing is it doesn't look to different from when I bought it. Bent my rear rim going over rail road tracks at or above GVWR on a recent trip (last summer) so used it as an excuse to get the new 2010 rear wheel (even though bearings and spacers in my old wheels had less than 5k on them) and go black, which I have wanted to do since I got the bike. A simple order to American Sport Bike and a couple days later I got a small box full of goodies. 2010 rear wheel in black, new front wheel in black, all the nuts and bolts to mount the rotors and pulleys. I broke my torx bit (because torx bits blow) installing the rear rotor but a trip to Lowe's got me back up and running. Installed the rotors and pulley yesterday, took the tires in to get mounted today ($244.00 mounted and balanced with a new rear tire and my old front tire) and then installed front and rear wheels today, took it for a spin around the block twice, checked everything, then a quick 20 mile jaunt and she ran great. Love the looks of the new wheels. Also checked out the NC700X Honda while I was at the dealership and didn't like it at all, it's way smaller then I thought, and sadly it was sitting next to my dream ride, a 2012 VFR1200F. That thing is pure sex, I'll pick up one of those if the new EBR bikes I don't like or are too far out of my price range. |

I think the graphite color wheels look way better than the black. How do you find the xt windshield is it any better than the x and does it shake more then the x? |

Yes, yes, yesss! looking damn good.. money well spent! They will show the dust a bit more than the mag.tone's, but a quick wipe down with anti-static detailer helps immensely! I just popped for the 2010 3brng in mag. tone and it's slightly "golder" than the original hue.. faaack. Thinking black powder front and rear now myself. Is your front rim bent and/or repairable? |

That's fine, I think the exact opposite. Always hated the stock wheel color, always dirty. That is the Zero Gravity windshield, and it is great, one of my first upgrades. And don't look at it so don't really notice if it "shakes" or not. |

Front rim is good, there is a small chip in the paint, dime size, right on the lip from moving and it being in a trailer (bicycle fell on it). Other than that there is no noticeable flaws with the wheel other than it's cleanliness. For reference. Can't wait to throw the blacked out bags on with the black rims... mmmm (Message edited by terrible1one3 on January 21, 2013) |

Bottom of the rear rim on my last picture in the original post is the bend, you can actually see it on the photo. I bet it could be fixed but after paying for that, then to have them powdercoated I'm still stuck with the old fail happy style wheel so I'm happy with the new set still... And I don't know how anyone can like the dust color better than black. It isn't even graphite, if the wheels were the same graphite grey as the frame they would be ok but this color they are I just hate, get dirty to easy, wheels are impossible to clean as it is let alone with the color not helping. |

Nice wheels, I did the opposite (XT black to 2010 Magnesium X), but to each their own. . . Enough of that, what's the deal with that saddle you're sporting ? ? ? Passenger section in leather ? ? Anyway, looks great, enjoy. |

Stock '06 seat. I'd like to someday get the Corbin seat but 500 bucks when I like the one I have isn't a top priority at the moment. |

Noticed you said you have an X but the front fender is an XT. Is there a reason? I would love to make mine all black and soon might upgrade the rear and front wheels. |

I ride on the street, I personally think the dirt bike style front fender looked silly so I grabbed a regular Lighting fender. Still have all the stock parts but don't think I'll ever go back to it. I bought my X in '06 new, there wasn't an XT, and mine came with all the factory bags, I guess I've made it into more of an XT over the years. I'm not big on looks (obviously I ride a Uly) but that doesn't mean I won't try to make the bike look as good as I can! (Message edited by terrible1one3 on January 23, 2013) |
