He's instrumental in historic motorcycle racing and in lobbying for off-road rights in NM.
I've known him since he raced our TZ750 after Team Hansen (Kawi USA) stopped the 750 after the H2R and KR750. Hurley never had the chance to run the KR. He DID qualify first in Daytona until Ago put the TZ750 on the pole in its first year of racing. Hurley's A bike seized in practice and they had to run the B bike. He said that was his last big shot - in a couple years, the TZs took over and a couple more, 2 strokes were done and Hurley and Steve McLaughlin went to AMA to lobby for Superbike (and if you remember, the first SBK championship was won by Pridmore on the BMW)
