Just so everyone understands. I have the list of extra covers that the owners of those covers have entrusted me to keep on a list (I have five extra covers myself). That list WILL NOT be published. That is my decision. If a owner is looking for a cover I check the list. Then I am going to ask for proof that they have that VIN number if I have the cover to match. I will not do this until all the information is sent to Scott to be recorded on the registry. It is as simple as that. When I get rid of my last S2 then I will decide what to do with the list of spare covers. Scott is doing a fantastic job keeping the "REGISTRY" up. He is doing this because it benefits the S2 Enthusiast out there. The fact that we have a S2 Registry instead of a list of numbers says a lot about the connection that owners have with these bikes. So Frank, there are two lists being maintained now? One for the S2's, and one for the covers? |

I'm not sure why it wouldn't make sense to publish both lists and try to get the signature stuff to the correct owner. It feels like a bit of hoarding, and I'm really not sure what value the signature products have without a bike to match up to. Am I missing something here? I just sent Scott two vin numbers for parts bikes I've picked up. One has a title, and the other title stayed with the motor. Scott, any idea if the signature stuff is out these for those two? I still need the signature stuff for #1000. That one means something to me and it will be restored to original factory condition, before recalls. Tough to find some of those parts now. |

Kevin, as I stated in an email to you, non of the vin's or the bike #244 was on the Reg. So I added all under YOU. I have no idea about , the cover list. Judging by Frank's post, follow the way he would like to handel it. He has the list of spare covers. I dont think anyone in this section would not want to get bike and sig docs to happy owner.. I gather there is away. I do not have any extra sig stuff , only what came with the one last S2T I have now. Hope this helps. Scott |

Kevin, I do not like explaining myself to anyone. Especially in this situation were I was trying to help. " It feels like a bit of hoarding" Really? Do you think I am sitting on a pile of SS covers? Give me a reason why you want it published? Would you buy a S2 knowing that the cover (and cover only) was owned by someone that may or may not sell or give it you? There is only one list, that is the list that Bart started. It had some limited function, it is the list of spare covers. The Registry is something different. The registry is what Scott is keeping, Bart had nothing to do with it. Mike had it right with his suggestion, I had intentions of making a website and actually story-boarded it and got input for the Shelby group on how to protect the information. I was even able to reproduce the mini build sheets but life got in the way and I have moved on to other things that interest me. The process is simple, you want your cover, send your info to Scott, if the cover is available then I will put you in contact with the person that owns it and you can work it from there. I should say that was the process. I meet a clown from HD at homecoming one year that wanted everything. Not to do anything with it mind you, he just wanted it and expected me to hand it over. At that point I decided this should never be published on an open forum. I do not know why he wants it, do you think I should turn it over to someone from Harley Davidson? Just so you all know, there is a very limited number of covers that are not matched up to a bike. I have only been able to reunite 1 person with his cover so it is not worth it. I will just delete the list of spare covers since it causes everyone so much pain. You want a list on the bad web, make it yourself. I am not, under any circumstances, going to publish a list of covers and the names of the people that have them for everyone to view. It is as simple as that. Deal with it. I think Scott has more tolerance for this than I do. The Registry is in good hands. I hope he continues to keep it but I would not blame him if he just drops it and I advised him to do so. James, no need to start a thread looking for me. I keep in touch with a few people I am just doing different things these days that does not involve motorcycles. You have a place to stay if you ever make it out this way. I will be selling my 95 S2 number 35 soon, your close enough to me to do a fly and ride. I will make you a good deal. Or if your looking for a project I have another 96 S2T that needs a lot of work that is not rideable. Frank |

"There is only one list, that is the list that Bart started. It had some limited function, it is the list of spare covers." Frank, it was NOT a list of covers, it was a list of S2 owners, and also listed whether or not an owner had their cover, or was looking for it. here is a copy of it in 2007, a year or two before I turned it over to you: # year color name Status 20 Ice white pearl Ferris have 21 96 S2T Grey/Silver DonCasto have 23 96 S2T Parkway Blue Road_Oiler looking 28 96 S2 Snap Red bluesboy have 34 Black Sapphire Jim_sb have 35 95 S2 FireManJim have 36 96 S2T JoshA spare 37 Ice white pearl Ebutch have 46 95 S2 Snap Red Al_lighton ? 52 Kaese have 76 Henrik looking 89 CareyJ sold 133 popchevy ? 148 95 S2 Parkway Blue Phat J looking 183 1996 S2T S2pengy have 197 95 Pearl Ice White MikeJ looking 258 Sportyeric looking 281 Carribean Candy Blue s2tbolt sold 294 court spare 298 court spare 321 S2T parkway blue Kevyn looking 341 Snap Red s2tbolt have 371 Hoser looking 382 Ice white pearl JerryS2 have 385 95 Pearl Ice White Bartimus Have 396 96 S2T Simond have 416 95 S2 S2pengy have 487 BuellieDan spare 506 S2 Court have 549 Ron Dickey looking 595 Rex spare 679 95 Pearl White ScotFerguson have 700 Phillyblast ? 714 Dave looking 813 95 Snap Red Bartimus have 820 Rex looking 834 Black Sapphire Tbolt834 ? 871 95 Ice White Pearl joplin looking 924 popchevy ? 935 popchevy ? 1013 Carribean Candy blue Bartimus looking 1127 95 Black Sapphire Pearl Buellerthanyou looking 1137 96 S2 Snap Red Jon looking 1147 96 snap red Doughnut looking 1152 96 Parkway blue Nitsebes have 1164 BuellerThanYou Spare 1172 95 Yellow S2 Kcs2 ? 1178 95 Parkway blue bluzM2 looking 1313 95 S2 1313 have 1365 96 S2T Snap Red ratbuell have You ARE right, it never was, or was intended to be a "Registry". It was just a list of S2 owners, and there was no personal information involved. I assumed that was the basis for your Registry as that was where you information initially came from. The database is a worthwhile project to maintain. regardless of whether it is a Registry or List, I understand why you wouldn't want to publish a Registry and all the information it may contain. I think what most want is just a simple list of S2's, similiar to the old list, not anything personal information.

Yowzers! Wow Frank, I didn't mean to stir the pot, but now that I have, why do you feel you have the right to hold information and parts from the rest of us? Life changes, you sound like you are on a new path and are looking to downsize your fleet. What happens when you get tired of Buells and just check out of them? Where does the secret list go? Where do the parts that rightfully belong to others go? I know you enough to believe that were a correct owner to ask, you would get them the Signature kit for their bike. But what happens if, God forbid, something happens to you? You know enough about me to know that I know what I'm talking about. I've buried my wife of 34 years and I still have things of hers that I'm trying to get to the folks she wanted to have them. Over two years now. My simple advice, take it or leave it, is relax, the list isn't national security and in the end, these are just motorcycles that we get to be caretakers of while we are here. Hopefully we'll be good enough to them that many of them will be here long after us. Thank you for what for what you have done with the list, now make it available for future owners to see who had their bike. |

What parts am I holding from you? Which of MY parts rightfully belong to others even though I paid for them? I will ask this again, do you think I am sitting on a pile of covers? My parts to include the covers that I own are mine. My intention, as I am sure it is with everyone that has a spare cover, is to offer it to the person that has the bike when that VIN pops up. Your right Kevin, these are just bikes and the SS covers was a promotion made up by HD to sell these bikes. They are not worth much. And they are not worth this pointless bickering. I will not put peoples names associated with cover numbers on a public forum. If you think I should share or that sharing is the right thing to do then thank you for your input. The list is destroyed. You and Bart can make another one, it looks like you have a good start. Good luck. |

Frank, Must be a bad day. First off, this started as a request to have the owners list published, as it was for quite some time. No personal attacks were ever attached. If there is a misunderstanding that you think I feel you have anything that belongs to me I apologize. I do not. Nor do I believe you have a pile of them, but several folks do have a few each from what I'm able to discern here. What you say you will do with the covers is the correct thing to do, get the cover matched up to the proper bike / owner. And you are certainly justified in recovering any costs you have incurred along the way for the kits. Just not sure how this will ever happen with a secret list. Pass it along to "Velocity" and keep it as one list? The list, as is - totally private, has no value to me. It makes no sense to destroy it, but since you have it, I believe you can choose to do the right thing or continue down the current path. Please take a deep breath. This bickering does no good. I'm out of it. I'll go back to enjoying my bikes and continue to search for #1000 on my own. |

Well if anyone comes across the SS set for #332 i would like to reunite it with my S2 but Since i bought my bike new in 2011 never titled and the selling dealer could not locate it. I have tried again after buying the bike and they still had no luck. it should be an unissued set. Thanks JP |

Just bought No. 1285. No cover, no cert, no worries. It'd be nice if they turned up, but just happy to have an S2 to add to the pack. A nice piece of motorcycling history. |

Hi guys, No interest in getting in on this heated conversation I only wanted to ask a friendly question about the serial numbers listed above in your discussion. I found the production numbers listed below and It says that there were very few 1996 S2 bikes produced. Far less than the 1995 model year. When I see 1996 S2 numbers listed with 4 digits, it makes me think that there were over a thousand made. Would it be more accurate to list all the 1996 model year numbers using only 3 digits, or were there truly over a thousand 1996 model year S2 bikes made? BUELL S2 THUNDERBOLT PRODUCTION NUMBERS 1995 S2 Signature Series: 1399 = 49 State Bikes made 86 = California Bikes made 1996 S2 Signature Series: 200 = 49 State Bikes made 28 = California bikes made 1996 S2T (touring) Signature Series: 398 = 49 State bikes made 36 = California bikes made Total 95-96 production 2147 |

thanks Onahog for the extra info. If you add those additional numbers to the 1996 production numbers we are still well short of 1,000 bikes. My 96 S2 timing plate says "187 out of 200". The last 4 digits of my serial number are 1187, so I'm assuming the timing plate is correct to my bike. I guess my point is that if we are trying to be accurate with the numbers, all 1996 serial numbers should only be referred to with three digits and all 1995 numbers should always be shown with 4 digits. So (for example) a 1995 bike could be 0003 or 1165. A 1996 bike could be 003 or 192. That way a 95 bike and a 96 bike could never have a duplicate number. Bike number 3 in 1995 would be 0003 and bike number 3 in 1996 would be 003. Maybe that doesn't make any sense....... |

My 95s are: 0182 0361 Sig plate says #361 of 1399 My 96 S2T is 0003 I purchased a 1995 S2 new in 96... Sig plate from it says #906 of 1399 and it was purchased in Canada, so maybe the CDN production #s are included with the 49 state bikes from Usa.. Not sure if anyone knows for sure as when ya read Courts book, the production #s differ..Hb |

I have my second S2 almost completed.....new battery, some wiring, and a tune up...... then I have two more frames and parts. One of them even has the title with the buell logo on it, and signed by kim Tordik....pretty cool. Frank, once I get them together I will get with you guys and see if there has bee a plate show up for the motor..... I wonder how many S2 's are still running around?

Here are the two S2's. The White one is completely original frame and motor. the Red one has the title for the frame and the motor. the motor is one piece. That is a different motor, but I still have the part of the original motor with the serial number. it was originally yellow. I put the red bodywork on it. the other two frames are just frames. no motors. I am thinking of taking one of the frames, and painting it ducati red, maybe having the forks done in black, put on the newer aluminum swing arm. different tank and cafe racer seat. No fairing, just a big round headlight. we will see. I figure since it is just parts, it is not like tearing an S2 apart. A couple of friends of mine have S2's in Northern Cal. Both may be selling, and both are blue. we will see if i can afford them. If so, I would have Red, White, and Blue S2's.... |

Been thinking of becoming a Bueller, found a nice 95 with the papers, siggy cover, it was white, repainted silver with some lifting, so needs done again some time. Is there any registration of the original color with the VIN? IE can I repaint it to the red color or is there a list that would catch me in the lie? LOL. |
