After over a week ago i installed the XB9 primary, unfortunatelly i've had a clod for this past week, so today not fully recovered, i decided to take a ride even risking getting bad again, while i was fitting the XB9 primary a x-soft clutch. So 300 revs above usual, no problem, torque great acceleration far better, town traffic less clutch work, negative side? i don't see any so far. My bike is an 06 the XB9 primary was sent to Germany to have it lightened and balanced. People could say it was expensive, but i have to say the work done was superbe and was worth every cent of the cost.

How is the clutch feel now? Looks like a nice addition. I love my XB9 primary and would never go back. Glad you're enjoying it! |

The clutch is really great, makes shifting really smooth it's something i should have done long time ago, and really simple to install. I think the "soft" would have been enough, as i got the X-soft. |

If you guys have an '08 or later, go to the XR1200 site, they get rid of these like the plague. They may even trade you for your XB12 one. It's where I got mine. But they are for the later cranks. |

Yes, but only with the larger '08 crank. They want more top end for the XR's |

Here are the two primaries, side by side. See how the 08 uses a bolt and not a nut. 07 08

I would like to try a bike set up this way just to see what its like but? My 10 bikes clutch and tranny is superb and almost as good as a Suzys. I can change with ONE finger but it may have had a Muller fitted on it. The 06 bike was fine I just needed to "slip" the clutch for better control. I spend 70% of my riding in very heavy traffic and do not recall any problems. The only thing is the new UK speed limits. Sometimes you need a higher gear or it will lug the engine. Trying to keep below a 20mph limit takes a little effort. And, looking at this way, a running man at 4 miles a min is 240 mph. No you can not do it for long but EVEN I can "fast walk" better than 20 mph. |

Out of curiosity. How many teeth have you XB12 original pinion? How many teeth has the XB9? Thank you. |

I never counted the teeth, but they weren't that many less. I did take a picture of this comparison. Maybe the op can count the old one. I may have to go into the XR1200 forum to find out. I live on some pretty steep hills and first always forced me to slip the clutch, especially behind a scared or bad driver not familiar with the winding road. This change made it way better. Didn't hurt my freeway commute any. |

looking at the parts book, the XB9/XR1200 sprocket is 34T (yep, same p/n), the XB12 is 38. The primary belts aren't the same part number though. the XB9 belt is 40005-57B, the XR1200 is 40057-08. Rdkingryder, did you use the belt from an XR1200 too? |

The chain is shorter, so I'd imagine the part numbers would be different. The person I got the primary from also provided the chain and even the bolt, although your not supposed to reuse them. I didn't, got a new one from Al. |
