1999 X1 I am leaning towards going to yellow bodywork. I picked up a yellow fender @ a swap meet for $10.00 and I am thinking of powder coating my frame yellow so I would like a yellow tank cover. I got a black one now but it is flat looking not shiny. Any pictures of yellow framed X1 out there??? |

Nice. Note though, that is not a 99 tank cover. If your fender is from a 99, the colors might not match. Not sure how many years they made the X1 in Reactor Yellow. Seems like they went to Sunflower Yellow or something like that. Not sure. |

Clarification: The first link (the tank by itself) is a 99. The second link is not. |

Yes however it also states that the tank by itself is or could be a repaint. I don't want to deal with that. It appears my fender is the same yellow. 8-) Thanks for the heads up. |

i do not think it is repainted i just think the seller has no idea, but i do see some small blemishes in the paint. It is probebly going to be hared to find a perfect yellow tank cover. |

What do you think? Same color? |

That looks like a sunfire yellow fender. It is close but not the same as the tank cover by itself and possibly the partial set of plastics. Your fender is yellow plastic without any paint where as the other items all look to be painted. I think you have to find 2001-2002 plastics to match your fender. William |

I would be ok with painting one front fender I only paid $10.00 for it. Will see what happens. |

If that is a Surlyn fender (yellow all the way through) it may be tough to paint. I think people have done it, but it requires special prep for the paint to stick. Also, FYI, if you are planning to powder coat the frame Reactor Yellow, the closest match I've found is "Rape Yellow", which presumable gets its name from the rape flower (the plant we get rape seeds from). Or it could be because it'll make your bike run like a raped ape |

Rape yellow ! now that's funny I don't care who you are 8-) years ago when I painted cars we used a flexable additive to plastic and had no issues. If I end up with the other load of plastic we will cross that bridge then. Right now I am dealing with crankshaft issues. After that I will look at the powdercoat situation. I could paint the frame but They just don't hold up like powdercoat in my opinion. Thanks to those that commented I had no idea on what colors or how many different yellows they did. |

Looks like Hootowl was right about the Rape yellow. Gonna mix in a little safety yellow with the rape yellow to get closer to the Yellow on the other plastic I got. Then I will paint the front fender to match.. |

It was a tossup between rape yellow and traffic yellow. Traffic seemed a bit too orange, at least on the color charts I had available to me. |

That is why they are going mix the two colors. I will get some pictures up when it is done. |

I have an S2 yellow tank cover, tail section, and fairing...in arizona....could go right on the bike. I also have a white S2 tail section and tank cover, and fairing. These are a little rough and would have to have some bodywork and paint. I also have an S2 frame. For sale, if anyone is interested. rex |
