One time, long ago and far away, a co-worker, M. W. Oilfield, was welding on his Jeep gas tank, I had separated myself from his welding by two work bays with a truck between us. he removed the tank, drained it, rinsed it out with water and then filled it with water and started welding.
I of course being the Mr. Safety that I have turned out to be told him, M. W., you can't weld on a gas tank like you are doing it, he just said Oh yeah? get out of the way and watch me!
Thats when I exited, stage right. I could hear him on the other side of the truck..."It's working, It's working, then VAVOOM! AWH SHIT!
When I thought it was safe I walked around the truck and here was M. W. all wet...
Of course, this was way before the days of VHS, camcorders, the internet and youtube.
M. W. was the kind of guy that would stop to help ladies out of the ditch, at which point the women would come up to his Jeep and say, thank you nice man, it is so nice to help us out of the ditch. M. W. would say, I always stop to help pregnant ladies, and they would say, none of us are pregnant???? To which M. W. would reply, and you aren't out of the ditch yet either.... |

I have a 2005 Blast and I want to change the trans oil. I need to remove the foot peg support bracket that is in the way of the clutch access plate. There are two nuts on studs that hold the foot peg support bracket on and I can get the nut off the stud that is farthest away from the engine but I am having a hard time with the most forward nut. What is the best tool to use on this nut? |

9/16 universal swivel socket on a long (long) extension. Sometimes removing the shock will help.
OR just fill through the transmission vent tube and save yourself the trouble of unbolting the y-frame. It will take awhile to fill, but probably less time than all the extra work of unbolting and adjusting everything.
Drain it all out (draining when it's hot helps) and it takes exactly one quart to fill. |

Since I've misplaced my 'special' rocker box bolt Allen, I made a simple replacement. I Cut up a cheap 3/16" Allen and used a Craftsmen ignition wrench (which seem to come in every craftsmen tool kit) to turn it. The leftover Allen also works well for the other hard to reach bolt. Simple and cheap, but maybe not an obvious solution to some. Other solutions are out there too!
