So now is my turn=)))

7 k miles..second rebuild by DIY at local electricians
i think photos will tell themself

I am going to change the rotor, but even with it i am not sure that it will help,,,a s small needle hole on the rotor will help to oil and cool the stator(???)
because the engine brings so much heat that not only stator, but MY LEGS are burning in traffic...))

is there anyone who rode more than at least 5 k miles with upgrades like rebuild stator from ricks motorcycles , EBR rotor, CE605 voltage regulator ?
because all this upgrades dont worth it if the stator will burn again

i sent photos of stator to ricks, now waiting for answer, if they can rebuild it...

Kalif--I have the following:

Over 6,000mi on Compufire voltage Regulator

Over 5,000mi on rebuilt stator (Custom Rewind)

and about 4,300 on my new EBR rotor.

Thank you for your answer.
Sounds pretty good.

it looks like EBR rotor really works.
i hope this will work for me also)

Sprintst
thanks man. but i did not try a lot.last rebuild (on photo) was cooked after 10-20 minutes of ride, but it was still charging 12,1V 12,2V even in this condition))))it is strange)

If i ever knew before about all this modifications, i would install them immediately, at that time i found Hildstrorm"s blog with rebuilding scheme, and tried to do the same...that was useless
At last i found BadWeatherBikers, thanks to all of you guys.

Are the Rikcs Electric good with their rebuild?
Which is better?thats interesting

Try calling Custom Rewind instead.

Per Alternator Stator Failure and Repair web page, "The preferred method of communication with them is by phone at 205-798-7282 or toll free at 800-798-7282." Note: the info on this web page was last revised 10-27-2011, so (likely) it may not be current. Also note that there is a lot of potentially useful stuff there.

I don't know what is up with CR's website, but try the old fashioned telephone and see if you can get through that way.

Kalif's in Azerbaijan, e-mail's gonna be his best bet...

Custom Rewind was the first to do an 1125 stator IIRC.
I have installed a Rick's Electric stator and it was well made and working fine.

Kalif try this link -

New VR C605 etc.

Get the mods I think it should help a lot, will know for sure after I install and get on the road again.

Was your stator in same condition as mine (like on photo) after it burnt, or better?

Kalif Mine didn't look like yours but it was almost new but bike still died so decided on upgrades before it looked that way. This was the second stator so not sure what the first one looked like. Highly suggest the upgrades if you plan to keep the bike.

I did a re-wind myself, with CE-605 and EBR rotor. Due to a mistake I made when winding the stator, it failed after a couple thousand miles. However, it still looked brand new, even after running it on the stock shunt regulator for a few hundred miles (one phase was still working on the stator). I used the high temperature wire, and the expensive cotronics epoxy when I wound my stator, and I'd say it should last well.

I've got several thousand miles on the fresh stator from the Buelltoberfest trip I took with Froggy (and the continued to Florida), with absolutely zero voltage issues, from the chilly temperatures in the northeast, to the high temperatures sitting in Orlando traffic in rush hour.

Personally, I'd recommend you go with a high temperature re-wind, EBR rotor, and CE-605 SB regulator.

It doesn't help you right now... but in another ~6k miles when I do another valve check/plugs/etc, I'll probably pull the ignition cover off and take pictures of the stator.

Thanks to God! Ricks have finally answered.
I have sent photos above for inspection to them, so they can have a look and decide whether they can or not rebuild it.
There manager took a look, and made me sure that they can rebuild it.

the area that Custom Rewind is in was hit by some tornadoes ( bad wind and thunderstorms ) last night - you may have a tough time getting an timely response from them...
Ricks is in the north east and should be able to communicate with you...
Have you investigated Betta Bikes in Australia? his stators appear to be "machine wound" - very professional/industrial looking:

get some leather pants for those hot days - the leather will save your legs...hope this helps

My stator was fried and really ugly. Rick's did a great job of the rewind. I now have the Buell mod on the rotor, the newly rewound stator, and the CE-605. I have only ridden about 1K since the upgrades but it's working great. The CE-605 is under the rear and stays cool when riding but heats up at signals. I might install a small fan or blower to keep it cooler.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my Buell will now be reliable for the long term.

Kalif - yes
RH threads are the common ones and tighten clockwise.
Example - the axles are LH threads, tighten counter-clockwise.
