So I decided to go ahead and modify the airbox on Ember today. I started by cutting up the airbox, drilling some 1/2" holes in the remaining "hump" and bolting everything down. I had a feeling that these new bolts would hit the airbox cover and sure enough they did, so I grabbed the nearest piece of metal I had (old toolbox drawer cover form my Snapon box), cut the hump off and made a template on the metal to cover the new opening. Bolted the metal to the plastic ring remaining from the stock box that holds the filter and drilled new holes for the hold-down bolts. Cut the bolts to length (since they needed to be alot shorter now) and finished her up. I want to pull it off a little later and dress the cover up a bit but happy at how it turned out |

??? I posted it because I've seen alot of posts with the later airbox or making a lid from scratch but though this method might help some people with the earlier box. Guess I missed something...but I already have 4 nipples if you count my wife, not sure if I need another one, though it would be fun in conversation! edit**-now I see the nipple thing you speak of, surprised I hadn't noticed the nipple reference before (Message edited by RamAirZ on November 20, 2012) |

There is a thread archived somewhere about the gain when it was added. |

Gotcha, put about 400 miles on it today (took a little trip) and aside from my thigh/ass being numb when I got home everything went great! New tune runs great, avg between 47-52mpg (alot of playing along the way), intake is LOUD. I think I'll leave it like it is |

Yea the nipple is dyno proven to improve numbers on a dyno, but it is one of those things that you probably wouldn't notice outside of competition racing. |
