I thought the problem with Vinales was that his manager (who also happens to own the Blusens team) had not communicated other offers to him. Perhaps an offer from KTM arrived before he re-signed......? | ||

Stoner has also expressed a desire to race in Australian V8 cars and has already had a test in one at least once. I'm quite happy for him to take his complaining to them and leave MotoGP for good  It seems that Vinales has had to swallow a huge slice of humble pie, apologise to all concerned and get the plane to Philip Island in order to complete his contract with BQR/Blusens. He is apparently taking his father and lawyer with him though, so this saga could run and run for ages yet. An even funnier contract related story involves Johann Zarco in Moto2. He had signed a contract to replace Mika Kallio in the Marc VDS team for next year. That is until hi smanager saw somebody hanging around outside the team garage on TV (Not related to the VDS team) and promptly took offence and ripped the contract up! Kallio was signed for another year and Zarco finds himself without a ride with no idea why! As the manager of VDS said...'you couldn't make this up!'. | ||

Yamaha need to concentrate on winning the title with Lorenzo, not giving people rides purely as a 'thank you' for winning a domestic superbike championship. Hayes may have finished 7th at Valencia last year, but even a repeat of that wouldn't help Lorenzo or hinder Honda, and I doubt he would repeat it given the form of regular GP riders this year. The only chance that Yamaha have of getting in between Lorenzo and the Repsol Hondas is by giving Spies bike to Dovi or Cal for the final two races. By all means let Hayes or another 'guest' rider have the Tech 3 bike, although giving that to Bradley Smith makes more sense long term seeing as he will ride it next year anyway. | ||

Crutchlow is apparently fighting a very bad case of bronchitis right now. Hayes not only now has the experience of riding the M1, he also has the experience of racing in Valencia. The man is a MACHINE when it comes to cranking out hot laps; not unlike Lorenzo actually. Unfortunately for the spectacle, no one in the AMA Paddock was able to step up into the "Pedrosa role" so Hayes pretty much won so far ahead of the rest of the pack that the only interest was in seeing who would finish second. This in a series where the promoter (DMG) did everything possible to level the playing field so as to prevent another Mladin/Spies show, with the rest of the field fighting for third. Only his age prevents him from being a viable regular on the World Stage. | ||

Prediction: Stoner is going to run away at the front. Fight will be for second place, but the difference between second and third is less than the difference between first and second. It MIGHT come down to Valencia... and it might end here. Either way, it'll be interesting. GO JORGE!! | ||

Funny Stoner came into electronics in 2006 his first year in the premier class. The bikes had nothing but electronics on board. So I'd say he knows nothing but being able to ride with them.lol Now Rossi started in the premier class in 2000. Riding the 500cc 2 strokers. There was no electronics and those bikes are still considered violent in manners comparison to the bikes they ride today. I also remember when electronics came about in GP. Rossi was the first to say he'd much rather ride without then with them. | ||

I have to say I ALMOST felt bad for Dani today. ALMOST. Congratulations, Jorge!! And Cal was pretty good battling fever and bronchitis to take his second podium too. So Lorenzo is now the first (and ONLY) two-time Spanish GP champ. Puig must REALLY be upset. I'm grinning as I'm thinking about that. Also remembering with GREAT fondness Honda's statement when they signed Pedrosa: "We feel Dani is the only competitor out there who can defeat Rossi." Right country... wrong racer. | ||

The irony, of course, is the year they MADE that statement Nicky Hayden beat Rossi for the title and they pretty much ignored him to concentrate on their new Spanish "toy." The next one to beat Rossi was a rider they HAD, but let go to Ducati. They don't seem to have a talent for picking winners, do they?? | ||

I think you need to check the results from Valencia last year Naka stood in for the injured Lorenzo and finished 6th.....1 place ahead of Hayes. he also finished a decent 9th this year against a full field of MotoGp riders (nobody missing for injury except Spies), so is probably a decent bet for a middle prototype place. he is also already contracted to be there because of the test following the last race, so costs Yamaha nothing extra. I would still have preferred to see Cal given the factory bike for the last race and Bradley Smith given the Tech 3 machine, but can understand the thinking behind Yamahas decision. As for the MotoGP race in Australia.........yawn! next please. Moto 3 made up for it thankfully Moto 2 wasn't bad except for the runaway winner and Marquez clinching the title. I think he will upset a few people next year in MotoGP with his wild (bordering damgerous) riding tactics, and the last thing that MotoGP really needs in terms of spectacle and entertainment is another fast Spanish lightweight dwarf  | ||

At this point, it doesn't matter... Jorge already secured the championship one race before Valencia. They could put ME on the spare M1 and it wouldn't make any difference to the championship. | ||

The race at Valencia will be a bit anticlimactic at this point. It's the post race I'm interested in. Remember Vale's "Fond Farewell" to Yamaha two years ago? Think he has anything in mind for Ducati? Well, other than what he'd probably LIKE to do, what he'd ACTUALLY do? And the post-race testing should also be interesting. Will Vale be immediately up to speed on the M1? Or will he be way behind the two Spanish aliens (three, if Marquez lives up to the hype)? | ||

Think he has anything in mind for Ducati? Probably something involving a gallon of petrol and a box of matches I would imagine he will be pretty quick straight away on the Yamaha, but behind the regular Yamaha riders form this season (Lorenzo & Crutchlow) until he gets back up to speed and adjusts thebike to his liking. I would espect him to be faster at the second test though. I also think he will want a relatively low profile (if that is possible with VR) to his return to the fold. Will Marquez be fast immediately? probably, but then he may be as likely to launch the bike into the scenery. I will be interested in Iannone more than Marquez, simply because he and the bike are just an unknown quantity. | ||

What started out as an exciting race ended quite "Ho-hum" for me as once again the racing officials didn't get the blue flags out in time, or maybe Ellison just didn't see them. In any event, that was the end of Jorge's nearly perfect season. After that, it was a foregone conclusion as to who would win the race. Bring on Tuesday!! Good bye, Casey... don't let the door slam you on the ass on the way out. |
