Does the shock have a sensor on it? I took my girl out for a ride today. The preload is setup for myself, and I didnt bother with it at all. Took her for a spin today, and I noticed when we would hit a bump it seemed that the shock would bottom out, and my engine light came on for about 2 minutes and went off. Anyone have any suggestions? | ||

Nope, no sensor on the shock, but next time, take the 5 minutes it takes to adjust the suspension properly. You'll both appreciate it. I can't imagine what connection the suspension bottoming out would have to a check engine light. All I can suggest is check the wiring around the engine to make sure nothing has rubbed through. The only possibility I can think of is maybe a frayed wire was shorting against the frame or something similar when the suspension bottomed out. | ||

yeah I suggest investigating the rear spring for a wire that has strayed into the coil or something too. | ||

On a Uly, it doesn't even take 5 minutes. All I ever change going from solo to 2-up, is rear preload. I max it. 90 seconds, tops, and that's if my hands are cold and I have to wear gloves. You do know you can make that adjustment while you're riding, right? Big wheel/handcrank under your left cheek as you sit on the bike...like a volume knob - turn it "up", increases preload; turn it "down" and it gets softer. | ||
