Anybody stirring around in their shops, tinkering and dreaming of next summer? Heard a rumor there might be a sanctioned event at Bonneville for money! Me? I'm working on a plan. |

First CMRA race is coming up on weekend of Feb 22nd. I've got a lot of work to do to prepare for that. |

"Dennis Manning has cut a deal with the BLM to reserve the Bonneville Salt Flats for five racing events during the next five years. Called the BUB Bonneville Bash(first date-Sept.5-10,2004), the event will include AMA and FIM record attempts for motorcycles only. This is a first for LSR bike racers. who typically have shared the salt with car racers during sanctioned events." "...The event will pay money, too-another first for LSR racers. The proposed pay out should include: $10,000 for Top Speed of the meet $10,000 for Top Street Bike $5,000 forcc/mph(i.e.: a 100cc bike going 150mph could win this). $5,000 for Top American V-Twin. $5,000 for top Non-American V-Twin. In addition, several sponsors have agreed to kick in contingency money, too, among them Gerald Rinehart who posted $5,000 for the fastest bike to use his exhaust system..." Brad,I have been in barn religiously ,lately.(Rain will do that.)Have swingarm being lenghtened and got a chain conversion for Buell, hoping for bigger motor/turbo combination.Picked up a 600cc Yamaha Seca motor so it will be chain drive/6 speed instead of shaft/5 speed next year.Met with new Derbi west coast rep at a local Yamaha shop and maybe convinced the owner to sponsor the Derbi--we'll see.And trying to get my S-2 back in street trim.Took 4 tries to get the right rings, but engine is finally back together,as it was the first part of the jigsaw puzzle to assembling the rest of the bike. So,yes we will be back at Bonneville, maybe more times looking at the above post. And I know Bob Gussenhoven has a project under way.I would bet Snail will be there and of course,Choptop. |

"Anybody stirring around in their shops, tinkering and dreaming of next summer?" What you talking about Snail ??. It is summer already and only 38 days till I leave for the salt. I am strating to get a small idea of what you need to go through with preparation etc. With the added complication of having to be self sufficent (food, water shelter etc) for 6 people. It will be fun. |
