Roadracing World has practice results up. Hot & sunny here. We were watching from final turn onto front straightaway. Both Danny & Geoff were slipping & sliding when they'd get on the power coming out of that turn. In contrast the KTM was remarkably smooth under acceleration (traction control)but still slower than either EBR. Go EBR! |

Great day here, qualifyimg as above. Kind of a flat track with a long straight. Tried to gauge if EBR'S at a disadvantage from end of straight but couldn't ever see them with anyone alongside. Couple very slow laps for both Geoff amd Danny. Back to speed next time so testing something? 1190rs looks great! And the racebikes sound sweet. Sportbike guys had a tough time in turn six, several of them went down. , Met jim, Hugh, several other guys. Watched Jason Britten stunt show. Amazing. |

Anyone have this race listed on Speed channel for the weekend? The AMA site says that race 1 will be on 10/7 @ 3PM and race 2 10/8 @ 1AM. But, my local Comcast listings do not show the races listed at any time this weekend. The time slots both show "AMA Supercross 250cc in New Orleans, LA". |

So, tough day all around. Since I'm no expert, no expert analysis from me, but seemed to to average a little slower than warmups. Tire problem? Saw Geoff's get off, he got up slowly, limped away but seemed ok after. He flagged down Filmore and rode back back to the pits. How's that for some comaraderie? Guys look like they have the bike close to nack together but maybe a new motor. Had some broken casting along left rear. The the crew are magicians. Geoff and Danny are great representatives of the company and the sport, and everyome took time to talk and answer my stupid questions. Looking forward to tomorrow. Larry |

Anybody else here in New Orleans, just saw on Roadracing World that the Huey P Long bridge will be closed from 10 pm tonight til 10 am tomorrow. Plan your route accordingly- this adds about 10 miles to our drive in the AM. (Message edited by Hughlysses on October 06, 2012) |

Interesting day here at NOLA. MUCH cooler today and cloudy; sun just came out about 2 PM. Saw Larry & his wife again at Tim's trailer and talked to him for a minute. Watched a CRAZY finish to the XR1200 race & championship. Struck up a conversation with some guy wearing an EBR shirt; he says Erik is out wandering around. Walked down to the EBR rig after the supersport race and there's Erik with a film crew explaining the 1190RS to some fans and their kids. We hung around until they walked off and talked to Erik for 10 minutes. He seems really stoked- it's so cool to talk to him. Got him to autograph my cap that Danny & Geoff signed yesterday. Erik said cooler weather will help them; apparently they were shredding tires yesterday. Go EBR! |

Half a great day. Danny finished second with a time penalty. Not sure why. Ended up on the podium thoigh. Scoreboard showed Geoff with mmechanical. Couldn't see from where we were. Great to meet Hugh, Curt and Joyce, Jim, Tim, and a bunch of others. Met Erik, Geoff, Danny. Great weekend. Thanks all. |

Danny was penalized 5 seconds for crossing the white line at the exit of turn 16 onto the front straightaway. It's an odd setup and an odd penalty. We were watching him come by us again and again clearly in 2nd but the board was showing him in 3rd. Once he showed in 2nd when he apparently got more than 5 seconds ahead of 3rd place Bostrom. What sucks is there was no easy way to tell him what was up. How do you explain that on a board? Danny obviously thought he had 2nd in the bag and tried to ride smart and keep in front of Bostrom. Bostrom knew all he had to do was stay reasonably close to Eslick and didn't need to pass him. It sure doesn't seem very fair, but I'm glad Danny managed a podium. After the race we went to the podium area to watch. I glanced behind me and noticed an EBR shirt, looked up and it was Erik! We heard him yell "SLICK!!!" A couple of times. He was obviously jacked. Any word if Geoff was able to hold on to 5th in the points? I hope so. |

On the way home today- 8 hours on the road so far and about 4 more to go. I see that Geoff retained 5th place in the points; that's great news. Here's the highlight of my weekend: I have more pics to post when I get home. (Message edited by Hughlysses on October 08, 2012) |

Meanwhile in the XR1200 class... Tyler Ohara gets the douche canoe award. As Barnes passed him in the last corner of the last lap, Ohara reached over with his left arm and grabbed Barnes' right arm. This allowed Ohara to cross the finish line first. Ohara was later relegated to last place... |

Anybody know what caused Goeff's DNF? They didn't say it was due to a crash during the race. |

From the Speed coverage I'm pretty sure it was a crash but they didn't show it. They just showed what looked like he just picked up his bike. His leathers were full of dust. I saw him walking back to the hauler and he looked crushed. I didn't want to interfere so I just smiled and waved and snapped a picture. He was kicking A$$ up to that point!!! Aside from Danny's 5 second penalty, I believe he overcooked a turn and actually came to a stop, re-pointed the bike and got back on track. If I'm not confusing race1 with race2 then he really would have been up with or very close to Josh Hayes without the blown turn and the penalty. What a job well done by both riders and the entire team!!! It was so great to see the professionalism of the whole team up close and personal. I can't wait for next season. |

Geoff seemed bummed after and I didn't say anything when I saw him either. I did message him congrats for a great season on facebook. I am sure like a great champion he will bounce back from a tough day better and faster. It will certainly be an exciting year next year. If I am able, I think I will try to go to Laguna Seca. It is closest to me anyway, but it was fun to see the last race of the year too. |

If you were at NOLA last weekend and would like to give them some feedback, here's the URL for their survey: http://www.nolamotor.com/survey The paper they gave us says you have a 1-in-5 chance of winning something for filling out the survey. |

I uploaded my photos yesterday; here are a few of interest: Back side of EBR Racing rig with a 2010 Uly parked alongside: Crew prepping bikes between practice sessions: Danny's bike: A little more complete: Film crew that was present in the EBR pits much of the weekend: EBR "hot" pits; #69 stall: #99 stall: Geoff headed out for a practice session: Danny headed out for practice: Geoff's Hero scooter/pit bike: Down at the Dunlop tent, here's what Danny's rear tire looked like after his practice session: Here's Danny doing an interview with former champion Scott Russell. Scott was in and out of the EBR pits several times throughout the weekend: The EBR 1190RS in the flesh: Friday we were allowed into the fancy building at the end of the track between turns 15 and 16 and we watched practice from the balcony. Here's one of the EBR bikes headed down pit road after a practice session. The infamous white line that Danny crossed on Sunday (costing him 2nd place) can just be seen at the upper right of the photo near the end of the concrete section: Cool "gearhead" sculpture in the building: Geoff and Danny signing autographs during the "fan walk" on Saturday: Geoff's bike being repaired after his get-off Saturday morning (?) during practice: The 1125R race bike of Badwebber "Smoke": Erik showed up Sunday. Here he is talking to Smoke about the races: Erik expounding on the 1190RS to some fans and their kids with the film crew in attendance: Danny on the podium Sunday: Josh Hayes on the podium Sunday: While waiting for Danny to come to the podium on Sunday I noticed a guy right behind me in an EBR shirt. Turns out it was Erik: Obligatory but lousy umbrella girl photo: Link to video of Danny's burnout after the race Sunday. OF COURSE we had been standing directly in front of where he started the burnout and moved away moments before to get down to the podium area: http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i119/whodom/NOLA %20AMA%202012/?action=view¤t=Eslickburnout.m p4 An video showing Josh Herrin, Chris Filmore, and a couple of others practicing starts at the beginning of the pit section: http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i119/whodom/NOLA %20AMA%202012/?action=view¤t=practicestartso npitroad.mp4 All in all, we had a great weekend, and I'm sure we'll be going to more race(s) next year. I figure they have to be related to that "leaked" video that was posted on youtube a month or so ago, and which was taken down a few hours later. That video seemed to be a preview for an EBR "behind the scenes" documentary/reality show. We saw the film crew several times in the EBR pits and elsewhere over the weekend. |
