My uly has begun to idle a little rough(er) of late. Last time out coughed a couple times and died at traffic lights. Seems to be fine if I add a little throttle. It is varying between 750- 1000. Ideas where to start? I recently swapped drive gear to XB9 and it runs fine at speed. Thanks in advance | ||

How many miles on the bike? Do TPS reset with engine at operating temperature. Then adjust idle to no more than 1150 rpm also at op/temp. | ||

I set my idle at 1050. Anything higher than that and it "hangs" when I pull in the clutch. +1 on the how many miles question. How old are the plugs and wires? How long since the last TPS reset? | ||

Good questions 34k on the bike. I got it at 27k. Dont know what previous owner changed plugs and wires. No TPS reset. Should I start with TPS? | ||

Ratbuell I was afraid you were gonna say that. My heart rate is increasing. Am I gonna have to learn ecm spy or has anyone figured out a way to to smooth idle on an 06? I was hoping to just adjust an idle screw. | ||

Why not just turn your idle up? Still, if it idled fine at one time, then you probably could use a TPS reset. | ||

Ya, turn the idle up. Like in the old days. Actually after reading lots of TPS and idle posts, I guess my bike never idled great. Steady but turn signals and mirrors bouncing pretty good. I always tell my buddies, " But it really smooths out at speed". Which it does. Now that the idle isn't steady and a little annoying, Im motivated to tinker a little. Im a little concerned I might make things worse. Where is this idle screw? Gonna crack open the manual tonight. | ||

As someone with a similar problem a while back. Adjusting the idle did nothing for me and actually caused the bike to sputter. The situation for me on my 07 was only solved through a TPS reset. The fact it idled fine but is now not, seems to point that way also from my understanding. | ||

If you are looking at the front of the bike, you'll see the adjuster on the right side about level with the scoop if I remember right. Still think you need to whip out the ECMspy and reset that TPS, though. It is cake. Nothing to worry about. | ||

Thanks for the help. I turned the idle screw very little and seems to smooth things out a little. But it's starting to sound like I could use some maintenance. | ||
