Anyone have luck rebuilding or repairing Buell fuel pumps? Been messing with a. '04 XB12R that wouldn't run. Narrowed it down the the fuel pump. Only pushing 5psi and should be 49-51psi. New one is $360, don't want to trust ebay. Will be pulling it to make sure I have correct voltage, etc, etc. Anyone have a XB12R they want to part with? (working of course...) | ||

Yes, I just replaced the pump in my '09 and many people have replaced XB pumps. The exact replacement is a Walbro 521 - there are other equivalents (Airtex e2061, AC Delco EP274). The only thing with the equivalents is they may not be exactly the same current draw as the Walbro 521 - it is quite a low volume pump. I found the AC Delco EP274 draws about 3 more amps over my original so I would think it has quite a bit more flow over the original and that is obviously just wasted with the pressure regulator set-up. The pre-filter is a Buell part - P0806.K. The inline filter is a Buell part - P0101.02A8 (or Autozone FF3330 I have seen mentioned). The O-rings for the pump body are 3" x 3/32" Viton (Buell Part P0121.02A8). I made a post with a lot of details, the only parts I had to buy from a "Buell" parts store was the input strainer and the o rings. Autozone had the pump and post filter in stock but did not have an input strainer that would work. Total cost was around $140 and it works great with almost no noise. Here are the part numbers: E2061 pump and FF3330DL filter The guys at Autozone laughed when I told them I needed a pump for a motorcycle, they didn't believe they had anything that would work until I gave them numbers and we started comparing the pieces. Mine has about 1000 miles on it now and seems to be working fine. (Message edited by Greg_E on October 03, 2012) | ||

Not easily. I can tell you that my 9R charges at roughly 10 amps after I start the engine and that is with 130 watts of headlights running. | ||

Back on two wheels!! Thanks to Wolfo68 for the pump. Saved me a ton and she works great. Original pump issue I do believe is the pressure regulator. That little thing is a $100 part!! | ||

It sure would be good to have a separate section in the KV or elsewhere on Badweb for part substitutions like this. It won't be too many years down the road before we won't be able to buy the parts from HD and the more parts like this we can identify the better. | ||
