Hey guys, what not take the trash talk elsewhere. I doubt the majority of the folks here want to hear your thoughts on American V. Japanese etc. it's like religion and politics - off limits except where welcome and, at least for me, it's getting really tiring getting all these senseless emails. let's talk motorcycles not your personal beliefs. Cheers, Leo (Message edited by Xgman53 on September 22, 2012) |

Ed... I will be out in the morning with the levers. Probably around 8:00. You wanna just meet at the gate? Don't want to pay admission to be there 5 minutes. |

Maybe you guys can make to next years Springfast, the dates are already set, so there's plenty of time to plan. Sounds like by the end of your winter, you will have all your bikes sorted out very well for the upcoming riding season. Perhaps! I'd certainly like to. The bikes are mostly behaving lately. Wheel bearing issues are resolved (for now... still a bit concerned about the XB wheel bearings, since they're older than the 1125s, but I'll worry about them later - I don't think they had the bad dust seals). The XB9 front brakes need work (I've decided the pads picked up some oil along the line, probably while the fork seals were leaking), but that's not a big deal - just needs doing. And the 1125 is pretty much behaving lately, though needs an oil change. Sadly, it mostly sits in the garage. It's a terrible commuter for stop and stop traffic, and just gets hot and unhappy. That's... about all that I do around here riding-wise. |

Good point Leo, I agree... Looks like you and Adam had a good ride this weekend. Russ, aren't there some mountains out there somewhere? I seem to recall a bunch of Buellers doing a yearly ride around Mt St. Helens, or something like that. |

It was short, but nice. I originally wanted to do the ride all the way through to Bandelier and through to Santa Fe, etc. I was told that the road down into Los Alamos from the Valles Caldera was all chipped up and not in great condition for motorcycles, so we just went to the Caldera and back into Jemez for lunch. |

It is. They laidfresh chip seal The beginning of July on the last 5 miles before the "T" where you turn to Los Alamos. It will take most of the winter to pack down and get smoothed out :-( |

I heard there was a paint truck that overturned there recently and spilled the yellow road paint all over the place... |

Russ, aren't there some mountains out there somewhere? I seem to recall a bunch of Buellers doing a yearly ride around Mt St. Helens, or something like that. There are the occasional mountains, but getting to them takes forever (to get out of city traffic influence), and the ride I went on to St Helens, we never actually got clear of traffic. It's "Scenic touring on a road, crammed in between other cars," not "Riding scenic mountain roads as in New Mexico." Most people around here drive under the speed limit as well. Always fun to be doing 45 in a 60... not because traffic is heavy, but because someone or a few someones are out for a nice Sunday drive on the interstate. |

yeah...It is nice here that you have the ability to pass people like that. Even in the mountains. I hate funeral procession-like riding. |

Russ, I think there used to be a Buell rally up there called SPLASH. SPort Lap Around St. Helens. it was about 10 years ago so I'm not sure if it's still happening. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/665831.html?1344355158 (Message edited by bartimus on September 26, 2012) |

Well, it's full of Guinness! We were in Dublin for Arthur's Day, and toured the Guinness factory on that day. Good times. There are over 1000 bars in Dublin and every one of them was celebrating Arthur's Day! It was a good time. |

CJ, you still good to ride 191 this weekend? I'm planning on meeting Kelly in Alpine at noon for lunch. Also thinking of taking Monday off, (cough, cough)... |

Count me in for 191 but, I think I'm going to head out on Thursday afternoon or maybe very early on Friday morning. I need to be back for the track day on Sunday. But, if you are too sick for work I'd be up for a ride on Monday. |

OK... I don't get it. If Bart rides out there on Saturday, and Kim rides home on Saturday, then how are you guys going to ride "together?" What's the timeline there? And I was going to have to share a room with someone in order to even come close to affording this little jaunt. I'm free on Monday for a ride. |

Well, we will wave when we pass each other in opposite directions we will figure something out. Kelly and I did this last year, just rode out and met Saturday, rode 191, and spent the night in Morenci, then rode back our separate ways home on Sunday. Neither of us had the luxury of extra time off, and we both just wanted to ride the road one last time before the snows hit. As a matter of fact, we did hit some snow south of Hannagans Meadows, but it was only for a short distance. Anyway, Kims got the extra time, CJ, YOU have the extra time, so maybe Kim will be nice and let you share a room with her. I'm sure on Saturday night, you can bunk on the floor of the room Kelly and I share. Monday, we can all get together and ride the high road or something... |

OK... I guess that sounds ok. Nick, dare I ask what you'll be using to fill that void? I really like your bike, but I'm not in the market for one right now. |

I would really like an off-road capable bike. It will probably be a Husky... |

Oh, that new 650 looks pretty cool. Saw that online today. I, too, am looking for something off-road. I'm leaning toward a Yamaha WR450. Would like to find a nice used one. Cheap. |

PJs has three 650 Terra bikes... (all spoken for). I sat on one and looked it over. That's the one I'm leaning towards. They are expecting more - soon. |

I was at PJ's today and Mike Carson is selling his personal TE449. It's street legal and is pretty decked out. $5400. Looked like a good deal, but a bit out of my range. I'm thinking maybe something around $3500. |

BTW: What tires are you guys using on your wife's Monster? My brother in law has one and needs tires. I'm a huge fan of Pirellis, but know that you've used many different types. |

The Monster is no longer in the family... however, we always had Pirelli Diablo Supersport tires on it which are no longer made. If I were to put tires on it today, I would probably go with Pirelli Rosso II (which I have on my XB and am completely satisfied with) or Bridgestones (BT-014 or similar). Have these on the F800R and they are very good. As you know, it depends on what your bro-in-law wants to do with the bike... Mike is selling his Husky so he could get the new Husky...the Terra (I was told). He might also be getting laid off... for the off-season. |

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't realize you guys had gotten rid of the Monster. What is she riding now? |
