Can't we start a new thread on the EBR announcement about the 3 new models coming? There is a long thread about rumor and wants. But this is about the real deal.
EBR makes announcement on the 3 new models and talks about dealer network.

Starting with the dealer in mind, EBR offers some of the highest margins in the industry, bar none. “We want the dealer to benefit from stocking the line, so we built in a margin that is greater than the European bikes,” explains EBR vice president of sales and marketing Jim Dorman. “We believe the dealers deserve to earn an honest profit while selling a premium product.”

You guys good with this? Lol. I understand it, but it also means less content for the same price then}

i Agree with curve most rocket riders dont like buells Meaning the new ebr bike wont sell like hot cakes except to those of us that know and love em. Not to hate of ERIC but i think when they first get released they will sit at dealerships and dealers will want to make deals to get them out. Then after a couple years of us tearing up the streets with the news bikes (rolling billboards) people will want them

The EBR product will be an "exotic" for some time to come -- no way they are going to get to the manufacturing numbers of the Japanese and have that much of volume market in the next few years.

But, I think all of us aspire for Erik to be something of Ducati -- a highly desirable brand with tremendous cachet and recognition, even if it doesn't have the outright sales numbers of the bigger makes.

Nothing wrong with that.

Ive been on some rice forums and the 1125 gets bad mouthed by those who havent been on one. Those posts are usually followed by posts of praise by those who have been on one. I think eventually the bike will be seriously respected by rice. BTW wheres the pics???

I think they'd be better off opening their own retail store. They'd benefit more from it.

Also people who have been on mine usually like it but hate how hot the frame gets. Who can blame them in the summer.

Dug, in response to your first post, I've wondered if there would be a new chapter opened for EBR in this site, just like there is for the XBs, 1125s, Old-School Buells, etc.
I don't see much activity on it but from www.badweatherbikers.com
there is a link at the top titled "EBR News".

Saw that and excited to see the 3 models!

I think the profit margin is a great incentive for dealers. Letting me know that just means i'm going to fight more for a better price (when ready for new bike).

I don't think their own retail store is doable. Not at their size. I'd rather they were at the honda or suzuki shop than HD at least...

Can't wait for pics! Go EBR!!

Duggram - for those who don't want to dig through the article (it's a great read and you should).

The pertinent info regarding 3 models:

quote:

EBR is launching three new platforms in 2013 — an R version, a Street Fighter and an Adventure series. These three new models will be based upon the EBR-designed and developed 1190cc liquid-cooled twin and will be priced under $19,000.

I want to see the Adventure bike - my decision between the 1125R and Ulysses was tough - an 1190 powered Ulysses sounds AWESOME!!

Si33py, why would you think that I haven't read the article? I get insomnia and was up reading email from Dris at 2:30 AM. He sent out a news letter on the article.

BTW I met Jim Dorman at Laguna Seca. Seems like a great rep for EBR. At the time he said they had 70+ dealers signed up but none in New Mexico. I'm certain that will change.

Good point on the margins - room to negotiate

Their own store? Can't work. We all need local dealer support for warranty service, if nothing else.

only $500 in special tools? What? Heck, what's improved from the 1125? that's great

Honestly, I'm not sure the 1125 today isn't far off of that.

Kinda depends on how you define "special".

i doubt it is. aside from a crazy long screw driver i don't know of any other 'special' tools required than for the 1125r. i would be willing to bet that special means not something you can buy at sears/matco/mac/snapon etc

The cam and crank lock tools I would call "special", but they are like $60 each.

Technically you should use the brake piston puller tool when rebuilding calipers, but the truth is an ordinary pair of pliers usually works just fine, and you are throwing the old pistons out, anyway, so it doesn't matter if you mangle them.

Another one would be the hollow socket drive for the clutch spherical nut, but EBR has that cheap and simple tool for that now, too.

Other than that, I can't really think of much "unusual" on this bike.

These bikes are actually really good for working on. Having been the team tech for our Honda 600 endurance team this year, I've come to really appreciate how sensible and sane working on the 1125r platform really is compared to that Honda which is a total PITA.

I was thinking about all the special tools to I'll need to do the stator upgrade and respring the front forks

I guess most of them are standard bike tools

I do find the 1125R WAY easier to work on than my previous Hondas and triumph Really appreciate the engineering the more I work on it

Don't need any special tools for a stator swap. Rotor swap only requires crank lock tool (and a big-enough torque wrench, if you count that as a special tool).

Their own store could work. Just like other smaller places.

They'd have their own service to generate extra profits, 3-4 Bikes that they sell. Merchandise etc.

I'm a car salesman and know most of ins and outs. It is doable while it may not be profitable right away in the long run it should work.

It didn't really work out that well in the end being partnered with HD. Also finding another dealer.

Lets say a dealer already selling Suzuki's picking up the Buell line with their previous history might not look so appealing. Even if it has higher margins then the Suzuki.

Having a bike sit on your lot for too long is going to cut down on the money you can have on inventory that does move.

I see this happen all the time with some of the used cars we get in.

Did not mean to imply that. Just since you mentioned in the header of the forum "3 new models" - including a quote of the models for impatient folks who didn't want to read the whole article... I read it yesterday when it popped up on the long thread (ie buried).

Got Dris' email today linking to same article.

Stoked for the new bikes!
