Nobody be offended when the numbers are revealed and show that I put all my miles on the DRZ while the XT keeps a battery tender company. Heh. Yeah, well... All my mileage is being split between to Yamaha's . |

Well my '08 Uly steering head bearings started to make that dreaded clicking noise a few weeks ago. I suppose 40k was long enough. I've bought replacements and plan to wrench asap. I need to get the bike right before my scheduled August road trip. But first I had to make a detour. Last week I flew to Anchorage and rented a Road King. Spent five days with an old college buddy riding in south central Alaska - he rode up from Kansas. For me, 1707 miles logged. Absolutely wonderful. Nice to get some quality miles under my seat. Wish it were the Uly. Maybe next time. |

Ahh, just got some fresh PR2s on good ole Silver. MUCH better than the worn out Angel front and plugged Sync rear I was running before. In a related topic, I don't think I'm ever going to attempt to mount my own tubless tires again without a No-Mar. That was ridiculous. I used about $10 worth of heavy duty zip ties and Sil-Glide to get the job done. Local shop would have done it for $30 Planning a ride from central MO to somewhere around Louisville, KY next weekend. Might even find some time to explore more of KY/TN while I'm there! |

My NoMar paid for itself a while back. The more I use it, The better I'm getting. I put new tires on my Guzzi yesterday. It went smoothly. I took my time and listened to some good music while I did it. When I was done, I fired up the Charcoal BBQ and threw a potato in the oven and rewarded myself with a nice steak dinner. (I really didn't deserve a reward for doing an easy job that will make my riding more enjoyable, but, What The Hell...) It was a nice way to spend an afternoon. It's funny; people would rather bring their wheels to a shop and pay to have tires mounted & balanced, than to come by my house, get their tires done for free, and I'll usually throw in a free meal(cooked on the grill). Maybe I should change my deodorant? |

Oh, man... I'm always the last to get in on this stuff. This thread is three months old!! Way back in March, I only had about 15,000 miles. I know because I got a new tires. I now have just over 18,800. It's at the shop today for it's 20K but I get it back on Tuesday and can post the actual mileage. I'm getting ready to hit the road, so that is going to go up considerably. Ride on! |

Awesome! I rode mine to Atlanta last week. It was F$%^^&*# hot stuck for twenty miles of construction traffic! North of Atlanta on 75 heading South SUCKS! But.....I did get in about 450 miles of near permagrin! Traffic on the slab was fast-nervous-unstable speed wise-swerving-untrustworthy-and tense. Otherwise it was a fun trip. |

Well, if everything goes well, I'll be putting on a couple of thousand miles this week. I'm riding down to Buena Vista, VA for a rally. While there, I'll have to check out some of the roads in the region. When I leave on Sunday, I'm going to head east to the coast, then I'll take the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel north toward Delaware. (I've never been over the Bridge/Tunnel on a bike, but I've always wanted to) Then it's up through Delaware to the ferry that goes to Cape May, NJ. then it's up to THE City, then home. It'll be a big circle. I sure hope I've recovered enough to do the trip; otherwise, it could get interesting. I guess that makes it a True Adventure! |

That sounds like a nice ride. The South Jersey shore is really nice. My father lives in Ocean City and that's where I expect to be within about a month or so. I'm taking a no-reservations trip clockwise around the US. I'll post a ride report if anyone is interested. |

Hey Crusty, you need to franchise! Open one of those sweet deals in Houston and deodorant or not I'll patronize it! Ghostrider, the man from my hometown and the guy with the same favorite ride! Are you doing a U. S. four corners or something similar? Hitting Madawaska, Me.? Just curious and have a great one. |

I think it will end up being a four corners ride stretched out over however long it takes. I think I'll hit the center, too, and visit Kansas! I know I will get to Maine, but I'll have to look up Madawaska to see where it's at. Maybe I'll see you on the road sometime! |

Just got back about 2 weeks ago from a trip to Alaska from PA on my Ulysses. 11000 miles, 2000 unpaved. Dalton Highway to Prudhoe Bay . Side trip through Dawson City, Campbell Highway and up to Yellowknife in the Northwest Territory. No breakdowns used one quart of oil. Mounted K60 HeidenauScout tires in Fairbanks . 130/80 rear on the front and a 150/70 rear on the back . Worked great but the 130 on the front was to wide for the loose stuff. |

>Worked great but the 130 on the front was to wide for the loose stuff.< Man o man. Can't wait to do that trip! Which front tire do you *wish* you had gone with? Did the rear last all the way back to PA? Milo milosmachineshed.com |

Skiwheels That is awesome! Great trip for sure. That is what a Uly is for. I would love to do that trip some day. For now it seems my ass is getting a lot of miles. Little or none on the bike. It seems that all I get to ride is a truck, an SUV, a car, and my tractor......I miss my bike. |

Continental has just come out with TKC 80 tires the exact size for the Ulysses . I would have preferred them but they wouldn't have made it back to PA. The Heidenau rear after 7000 miles still had some tread left. The front ( rear ) had lots of tread but it was cupping and starting to howl something fierce. I ran Dunlap D616s ont the bike from home and when I got to Fairbanks (about 4 k ) the cord was starting to show on the rear tire. |

When I saw this thread in March I thought I would not put that many miles on but looking back at my fuel log I thought I would throw myself in. On March 21st I had 15321 miles. Yesterday I filled up at 21029. I bought the XT last December with 12797 miles, looks like it will be a good year. The miles pile up when your having fun and have a bike you can rack up miles. |

bump I hope y'all are still putting lots of miles on your bikes. Kinda quiet here. While I did not take my long bike trip this summer, I did manage to (briefly) visit Alaska (fly-n-ride) & West Virginia. I'm planning to make it to Buelltoberfest in October, but that's about it for this year. Probably 6k miles - down from the ~10k miles/season I put on the uly '08-'11. I'll try harder next year. |

sitting in the garage at 36555 about 100 short of 10000 for the year but i`m still commuting as much as i can till the salt gets spread. No icy rides home yet but yesterday was close as my shoulders had ice on em when i got home due to fog and freezing temps!Like i said in April not the most but not the least either hmmm the Bridgestones seem to be holding up very well. 5000 miles and the rear still round. 1500 mile were in Utah with wifey on board in 90+ degree heat and high speeds. The rest are traveling to work and back. Best tire value i`ve tried so far, but my favorite are the pr2`s i had last year, bt023`s are a close 2nd!
