Are you guys actually able to drain 2.5 Qts of oil including what comes out of the filter? I just changed my oil and this time measured exactly how much came out. It was below 2 Qts and I put 2 Qts back in. Just wondering. Thanks. |

You have to remember that the paper in the oil filter ABSORBS and does not release that oil. It's trapped in there. EDIT: Actually, it's not trapped in there. Just the volume of oil in the filter will be part of your overall capacity. Next time you change oil, pour oil into the oil filter, wait several minutes, then do it again until you get toward the top. Wait several more minutes and you won't see that oil either. Will absorb lots of oil. Only fill until just above the lower mark of the dipstick. This is after you start and bring up to operating temp, then shut down and check where on the dipstick your oil level is. (Message edited by two_seasons on September 07, 2012) |

The way you find out how much oil to put in or how much is supposed to be is the oil tank is to fill it to the correct level and then drain it and measure the amount removed !!! (Message edited by buellistic on September 07, 2012) |
