Hello folks, Almost three years and so many stators, harness upgrades, relays, and too many times towed, finally decided to get my lawyer and try to get some real solutions from HD. So my lawyer told me that we need some HD official document recognizing the failure of the stator on 1125 models, like a copy of recall bulletin or something like that. Anyone have any? or maybe where I can find it? Thanks |

the harness recall document should be public knowledge and filed with NTSA |

The Upgrade Harness deal is called a Product Program not a Recall. The dealer who installed your Upgrade Harness has that Service Bulletin and should be able to give you a copy. |

In NTSA only shows a recall for 140 units of 2009 CR, about plastic debris in the camshaft. I'll try my dealer. Thanks |

There are approximately 43 complaints registered with the NHTSA on '09 1125 (all models) for "electrical system" failure, most of which are stator failures. This is significantly less than the actual number of failures cited on this forum. Please go here and register your stator failure if you've not done so. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/684201.html?1342853777 Given historical behavior, it's reasonable to expect 100% stator failures of affected model/years. I'd really like to see HD step up with a supported, permanent solution to all our benefit as opposed to the well intended, educated grass roots efforts evidenced to date. It's clear HD won't do so without external pressure. Ros, A lawyer may be more interested if presented the possibility of a class action suit. |

Pwillikers, Already tried to fill a complaint with the NHTSA, but because I'm from Spain, and there's no option to fill a complaint if I'm not resident of USA. When you say "class action suit" you mean a group user sue? (Message edited by Ros on September 05, 2012) |

Ros, Class action suits are initiated by a subset of an offended group. The suit projects the damages across the entire group. The defendant's potential liability in a class action suit is much larger than what it would be if it was only for the damages incurred by the subset. This creates additional motivation for the defendant to resolve the situation. Since you're in Spain, you are governed by laws different than those in the US. The possibility of initiating a class action suit on the behalf of plaintiffs from different countries is very remote. |

Pwillikers ok, That's the reason in other post I said that O cannot understand why USA 1125 users didn't make a group sue against HD. The laws in USA, are made to protect the right of the users better than the Spanish ones. |
