So the bike ran well for a while, long enough to get into the M2 work. Wiring cleaning up, transmission and clutch pulled. Then I bought some bad gas. Siphoned most of that out and replaced it with more of the ethanol free stuff. Bike (XB) will not start. Starts if I spray Seafoam into the intake, or crank the throttle a bit while trying to start it, then let it sit a few seconds, then hit the starter button again. I think I probably have plugged up injectors. I'm working on getting the manifold loose. Can anyone still tuned into this channel advise me if injectors can be soaked in a cleaning fluid or should I just replace them? Thanks in advance! |

Hey Little, Since my last post here i did get my ride running, Think the TPS reset did the trick. But i am having another problem. Bike it cutting out, bucking and jerking. I want to say it fuel related, maybe a lack of fuel? But only does it at times. I just filled up and i am thinking that might be it. Dropped some fuel treatment in it to see what happens. On your question about fuel injectors. soaking them will not clean the insides. You have to run something through them to clean. have you tested the injectors with ECM spy? it will cycle the injectors so you can see if they are clogged. |

Ford, glad you got it working again, maybe current problem is heat related if not fuel supply on your bike? I was working on pulling the injectors before testing them, seems like I'd want to see them try to fire at least? I only checked the run time and pump with this latest problem as the injectors were where I left off before. Seems a bit foolish to skip now, but at the time I started tearing into it I felt certain the injectors may have needed attention from the first event and figured I'd just start there. They are a pain to reach but according to the manual I don't need to rotate the motor to get them out. Have been side tracked by getting my new truck running right and licensed. Sold my 03 f150 and was on the bike(s) exclusively, when this came up the M2 clutch and tranny were pulled for service too so I decided to focus on replacing my truck first. Done with the "new" truck's big issues so I'm about to go work on this right now actually. |

There are some places that can flow test and clean injectors. Maybe someone close to you, Google it. lol My problem is heat related. Yesterday in the AM ride to work bike ran ok but not great. Just a little off. On the way home it ran like a BOS (bag of shit). Felt like it was starving and cutting out fuel. Was lean because i could feel the heat off the rear jug. Going to tear into this this weekend. Want to get it straight before a planned oct ride. |

Did it backfire when it came back from the stall? |

No backfire or popping at all. A times it feels there is nothing there, like switch turned off? |

OK, that probably makes it less likely to be the cam position sensor. I'd look closely at he wire harness bundle where it goes down and out from under the flyscreen and down under the frame. Don't just look for completely split wires, run each through your finger and feel for internal breaks (they are fairly obvious by feel if you have one). |

Update, I hooked up ECM spy to the Uly and let her warm up in the garage. Engine Temp sensor was going up slowly. When i cracked the throttle just off idle she started acting up, surging rpm up and down. While this was happening my TP voltage was fluctuating up and down while i had throttle locked in one position. I saw it drop down to about .2 to .5v and then back up to 1.25 where it should have been. So i remove the air box, filter and lower air box. Start poking around harness for TP and now its not doing it! Might be onto something?? TP controls amount of fuel to engine. The sample rate from ECM spy on readings has to be slow. Was hard to notice at first. I will start checking wires back to ECM for TP circuit first then TP. |

Wanted to update what i found so far. TPS wires to ECM are fine. Closer inspection of the TPS sensor shows some exposed wire out of the top of TPS wires. Ordering one from American sportbike. (Message edited by fordhotline on September 07, 2012) |

Pulled the injectors and had them rebuilt by a local company, Injector Tech. Installed them this morning and after many distractions finally reassembled and tested with all the sensors plugged in. After a couple tries it finally lit up, ran for a minute or two and stalled. I restarted and let it run. Couple throttle blips gave a couple good backfires through the throttle body. But it responded well to throttle input and seems to be good. Injectors were caked with carbon when I pulled them. They said this is common for a injector going out. Thinking after a ride tomorrow I may need another TPS reset, or maybe just a good ride will do it, so the 'puter can relearn proper fueling with injectors firing right. |

Had the bike out for an hour this afternoon, made sure to keep a steady throttle for a while on the interstate. She's running great now. Woohoo, I think it's finally good to go, again. |

looking for some help with ecmspy, I have a 2000 x1 . I have installed a hammer performance 1250kit with extensive head work . I have purchased ecmspy and a cable. I cant get the computer to recognize ecmspy. keeps saying ftdi drivers failed to load ? I have called the cable company and they said their cable has the drivers already imbedded in the cable and it should load automatically. its not. advice greatly appreciated |
