I got the cable and downloaded TunerPro, Need to figure out why the CEL is on and do a TPS reset. I just can't seem to get it to connect. I'm fairly computer literate, but I'm at a loss. If there's anyone in the ATL area who could help me get it working, I'll bring some beer. |

You need a driver for the cable with ECM-SPY but do not know with Tuner Pro. |

I've got the driver installed. when I plug in the cable, the machine recognizes the cable and creates a com port for it, tuner pro can see the com port but that's as far as it goes. I'm sure it's something simple but.... I'll be damned if I can figure it out |

I had something like this with ECM-SPY. I can not remember (long time ago, LOL) but for the ECM-SPY prog to connect to the ECM it was - Connect cable, run prog and turn on ignition or connect cable, turn on ignition and then run prog. You should get some sort of error message if you cannot access the ECM and I guess it will need to be "on line" to access it. |

Did Uly_man hit it? The ignition must be on in order to read it. You may have done that but you didn't list it as a step. |

nah..Sorry, I did have the ignition on and the kill switch set to on. that way and no luck. Maybe I need to spring for ECM SPY...maybe its a tuner pro issue. |

I have just tried to make TunerPro RT V5 work but not as yet. ECM-SPY is working ok. I guess I need more study for TunerPro. |

Cmgaviao - If TunerPro is communicating with the bikes ECM the bottom yellow box will go from "Not Connected" to "Connected" blue or flash red if it will not connect. Click on the double arrow "Aquire Data" button on the top of the page and it should connect. If not right click to get "Preferences" and go to "Data Acq./Emulation" and set it to "AutoProm" and then apply. Once it is connecting you will need to get the "Bin" file from your ECM using the demo version of ECM-SPY, which will be a ".MSQ" file, and save it in the TunerPro folder. You will also need the ECM version so you can download the "Text file", "ADX" and "XFD" files from the ECM-SPY site to make TunerPro work. (Message edited by uly_man on August 23, 2012) |

ECM-SPY was designed for the Buell and you will find it easier to use because of the graphics and layout. You will be able to do the TPS reset and check the history for the CEL but if you are going to be messing with the fuel maps you may find TunerPro easier. TunerPro is a generic tool and works on anything but you need to get the files for the car/bike you want to work on. I would stick with ECM-SPY for the moment. |

Just wanted to say thanks to all for the help here. Got the older version of ECM spy working like a charm and did my first solo TPS reset. Still having some other running issues but I'll address those in another post. I wish there were code out there somewhere for ECM spy, It ought to be a fun project to try to port it over to work on android and bluetooth and open up some interesting possibilities. |
