It is rare for a top line rider to keep his edge in motogp past his mid 30s. At that level the effort to stay in contention often results in a career ending crash. It would be great if Rossi bows out now and goes car racing. The young guns have the talent and the fire . Rossi may have another title in him but it is definitely time for him to go. |

Matt, don't feed the troll. I ignore him, you should too. He has no CLUE what he's talking about and just gibbers on and on to get a reaction. |

Gaesati, lol no need to defend. Most jump on the Rossi boat and Rossi is God to them. They can't bare another rider being better then Rossi. Stoner makes no excuses he just deals whith whatever bike he has and WINS. I think Stoner is leaving for another reason "wife" instead becuase he really does not want to race. you can tell he loves competing |

Most jump on the Rossi boat and Rossi is God to them. They can't bare another rider being better then Rossi. Some of us have been following GP racing in its various formats since before Rossi or Stoner were even born, so it is not about any one rider. However there is very little doubt that Rossi is the best rider of his generation and it is very unlikely that any rider will surpass his record for many years to come. One thing is for sure, and that is that Stoner will not be the rider who ever beats Rossi's championship winning or race winning records. I'm sure there will be new riders to cheer/jeer for in future and it remains to be seen whether the new 'stars' Marc Marquez or Maverick Vinales can get anywhere close to what Rossi has achieved in his career. One thing is very sure though. MotoGP will be a much poorer place (both financially and emotionally) when Rossi decides to retire from the sport. Rossi will probably win a few more races before he retires, but I doubt he will win another championship in MotoGP......WSB is another matter though |

I think if I were Cal Crutchlow, I'd be breaking things right about now: http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/andrea-dovi zioso-ducati-corse-motogp-2013-2014/ His best bet is to stay with Tech3. I saw an interview with Herve that said he'd like to keep him. He's still on the best bike in the paddock, but he just has to wait a little longer for the "good parts." I can understand it, though. This is his second year on the team and he hasn't managed a podium yet. Dovi has proven it is capable of podiums. Before him, both Colin and Ben put it on the box too (Ben even managed a pole position on it). Cal has no excuses. |

I think Cal is more bitter about being messed around by Ducati than by not getting the ride. If they had told him directly that he wasn't going to get it he could have started to look eleswhere a long time ago. However they kept him hanging for 4 months! The president of Ducati actually called Herve Poncheral and told hinm they were signing Crutchlow and they had already told Cal that the contract would be with him in 2 hours before Mugello. Since then he has apparently heard nothing from them, not even to be told he isn't being signed or to apologise for messing him around for 4 months. Ducati seem to have completely lost the plot, both in engineering terms and in management ability. Scott Redding and Andrea Iannone had a test ride for Ducati last month, yet both have had no contact from the company since, not a word! Marc VDS have tried to contact Ducati about this and about running Ducatis next year in MotoGP and nobody has returned their calls. At this level that is just embarrassingly poor business however you look at it. I hope Dovi has a good retirement plan, because he is going to need it sooner than he thought he might Cal should be able to stay at Tech 3 for next year hopefully, although it isn't a done deal yet. when Rossi is out there will be someone better. Do you really think that someone will better his record any time soon? |

http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/casey-stone r-ankle-surgery-motogp/ I would've preferred to see him go down FIGHTING, but I can't blame him. Why fight for the title only to spend the rest of your retired life crippled? Maybe he won't go out on top, but he'll likely still be able to enjoy activities with his kids when they grow up. |

With Stoner and Hayden missing this weekend the grid will be rather empty. It looks like a straight fight between Lorenzo and Pedrosa - I only hope they can stay injury free for the rest of the season. |

Dani has two strikes against him in my book: 1) Alberto Puig 2) He rides for Honda At least I've been able to root for Nicky with a clear conscience these past few years. (Message edited by jaimec on August 23, 2012) |

My god people. Leave what happened with Nicky and Pedrosa go.... Nicky did and they are friends. Leave the politics of Honda out of it. Pedrosa is the 12th best GP rider in History. Not bad at all. His time is due and I can kinda see it coming. |

Jaime and I aren't the only people who feel the same about the little rat weasel. Here's a picture that I took at Indy in 2009:
There were a group of about seven or eight who were wearing them. I tried to buy one, but they didn't have any for sale. Somebody missed their chance to make a few bucks. I bet they would have sold like beer in Death Valley at a 1%er rally. |

John, Its racing....lol. The reason the rednecks don't like danny is because they are southern boys wearing the shirts. Andrea and I were there in 09. I heard the Southern twang in the voice more then once.lol And they are fans of our American racers. I'm a fan also but a race fan first. |

You'll note my complaint was nothing to do with Pedrosa personally. It was with his a--hole of a manager, and I just don't like Honda. |

I really respected Alberto Puig as a racer. Obviously a lot of people in the racing community still respect his opinions. |

Pedrosa quickest in FP1 followed by Lorenzo, Dovi, Crutchlow and then Spies. Other than one the first two being a show in for the win, you just need to pull a Yamaha rider out fo the hat for the last step on the podium. On current form it should be Dovi, but Crutchlow has a point to prove. Much as Ben would like to I just don't see him figuring for the podium this week. He is still very sore from his crash at Indy and luck just doesn't seem to favour him right now. The best fights in MotoGP just may be for 5th -10th place this week, again Thankfully Moto2 and Moto3 should provide some interesting racing though. |

Pedrosa is in scary form again, but Lorenzo is nipping at his heels. Did something happen in FP2? Ben is considerably lower in the timings than I would've expected... even lower than Rossi (who is surprisingly HIGH in the timings). |
