Shame to see it hacked up . . . it's neither a good collectible nor a good mountain bike in that condition. |

I'm not sure I see what you mean by 'hacked up.' The fork, front wheel and shifters are probably not period correct but, that should be a snap to replace if originality is the desire. Biggest thing for me would be the condition of the paint and the condition of the shock and they look good in the pictures. From our previous discussions and feedback from the Waterford guys, most of them were sold as framesets so components depended on owner's preference. Most of it behind the headset matches one of our two bikes. |

>>>The fork, front wheel and shifters are probably not period Neither period, nor correct. There were two models made that came fully outfitted as shown in the catalog. Neat bike . . but, as I said, in it's current condition it has no value derived from being collectible and, by today's standards, it has little value as a serious mountain bike. Kind of out there in bikeatory. |

All the parts are easy to find. The frame is hard part. |

>>>All the parts are easy to find. The frame is hard part. Thank you. Hence the "hacked up". But you are correct . . it has the potential to be a "pieced together' reproduction. Someone will snap it up. |

No matter what, it's cool because it's a Buell! |

Considering that the only part that was Buell / Paramount is the frame, it would hardly be a reproduction. That's a Buell frame and shock, as they left the factory. Everything else is just bike parts. On all of the internet forum sleuthing, I found one that changed hands in Europe as a whole bike and mine...and Court's...which hasn't actually changed hands. There are two or three that were sold as bare frames, were never built and are still hanging in people's collections as such. If somebody here doesn't budge, I may make him an offer and drive out there. It's 400 miles. Ugggh. |

Not sure I'd disagree with that. Extrapolating on that logic. . . the deal is a steal and it takes nothing to ship a bike (any bike shop will do it) . . . I doubt anyone here is going to budge . . I'd snap it up if I were you. If I recall there were about 250 of them made . . . complete bikes . . .so it's a steal. When they were released I went to the dealer in Overland Park, KS to pick up a couple of the brochures. I had all the files, paperwork and so forth about the bike at least a year before I picked mine up. Someday I'll have to share where mine came from . . .kind of a cool story in the history of Buell. Fun stuff. |

Just my 2 cents! I have been building race bikes for bmx for a long time and gathering and building the collectibles from the 80's. The frames are the hardest part to find in a condition that is workable as original. If anyones ever interested i could share pics of my sons bikes he was a national champ and some of his bikes from the 5-6 yr age cost more to build and sold used for more then my Buell cost to rebuild! |
