It was my understanding that I would be able to have my bike serviced at any harley dealership (why I bought the ext. war.). I am running on one cylinder, well my firebolt is, and the local dealer says they don't work on em. What's up with that? I think the plug is just fouled. I let it sit too long with out the charger, just starting it and letting it idle occasionally. I had every intention of riding it but then it snowed and well the weather and I wimped out etc.. How bad would it be to ride it on one cylinder for about 70miles to the next nearest dealer? | ||

Dick the first thing you want to do is not start it during storage cause all you do is build up unwanted condensation in the motor.Don't ride it anywhere on one cylinder.You can tell which cylinder is dead by which exhaust pipe is cold then go get a set a plugs and replace the one thats fouled.If you don't know how to get to the plug the best advice I can give you is do yourself the biggest favor and get yourself a service manual.If you ride a Buell this is one of your best investments you'll ever make. | ||

Naw I wouldn't ride on one cylinder. It's the front thats out. I pulled it and it's all black and a little gunky. It is getting spark to the plug so I hope it will be an easy fix. Do I have to use HD plugs or is there another brand anyone can recommend? Figure I'l change the oil while I'm at it. Oh and I do have the manual, and parts book, a much better investment than the warranty. I never plugged it in to the charger because it's not officially in storage. It rarely freezes here in western OR. so I try to ride all year. Rains alot though. | ||

local HD boutique should stock some 10R12 plugs. if you wish not to offend, ask for Vrod sparkplugs. cheep at $5 the pair. i guess you can see that repeated idling of a cold engine is not doing you any good. battery tender juniors are on sale all over for $20. might be a good investment. |
