I had some oil drip out of my forcewinder onto my header (it's stock) and now it is baked on. I already tried some wax remover/degreaser (which I think is just orange spray) with no effect. Any ideas? |

You might end up with polished headers: start with a brillo/sos pad. Otherwise, to keep from using an abrasive (i.e., not ending up polishing the headers), just keep at it with Dawn or some other grease-cutting dish soap, and/or citrus de-greaser. Persist. Can't think of any other options. |

Use Easy Off oven cleaner to take off baked on oil from the headers. But be very careful on where you spray it.![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/pacscat.gif) |

Got the same problem on my '99. Carry a sheet or two of paper towel in your jacket pocket and mop up the underside of the sock/filter once you're stopped at your destination. Of course the best approach is a catch can. And American Sport Bike sells them. |

"Run the BREATHER HOSE into a CATCH CONTAINER !!!" That's the plan. I have a few other things that I would like to change as well, but I was going to wait for winter. As far as polishing the headers, aren't they just steel tubing that would rust instantly if I polished them? |

Fixed! Ended up using a plastic SOS pad thing and minimal elbow grease. |

Yeah a scotch-brite will do a pretty good job. I draped my old riding jacket on my bike some years back and melted the sleeve right on the pipe. Took forever to burn off but it did. Scotchbrite removed the patina that was left. |
