Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it, either. I just started a new job, and we're working 7 days a week. I'm going to have to miss both the WV gig and the Moto GP in Indianapolis. It kinda sucks, but I really need the money. I hope you all have a great time.
Well unlike all these negative-nancies... I am going to be able to make it! I've got Friday through Sunday off! WooHoo
I've also got my dual sport tires en route! WOOHOO!!!
I am stuck working Thursday night, so I can't leave till Friday morning, but then I'm good to go.
Shawn (and anyone else), you want to ride down together and hit some dirt on the way? We can freeway it to Wheeling (135 miles), the take the TWVT south to Harrisville on gravel/dirt/backroads (another ~135 miles). Should arrive to setup camp mid/late afternoon Friday if we get a decently early start. The dirt/gravel should all be Uly-able as long as it stays fairly dry. Just a couple tricky spots.
that sounds great! we're leaving friday morn also. me (tiger), ben (klr), bill (f650gs), and schmitty (dr650).... lets do it! your buddy with the klr goin?
so what tires you go with? three of us are on the scouts
Won't make it. Buell property tax and pending rear tire purchase...
Did 16 South from Ohio border to Beckley about ten days ago... Parts are nice and entirely re-paved... The south half has deteriorated even more and is not so nice.
SOOOOO... this is the deal... and I want to make sure everyone knows whats up.
Last year was the last year for the "Big" wing ding. I can't ask Judy and my Dad to keep doing what they have been doing.... and Judy wont admit she isn't 100% yet after being so sick a couple of months ago.
With that being said.... we will be on our own for eats and such.... This is kinda what Dan "Toona" and I had in mind 6 years ago at "March Badness". Just some peeps from Badweb getting together and having some fun.
I hope to see a bunch of you on the hill next week and we will have a ton of fun!
Saturday evening I do plan on dragging as many of you that would like to go... back to Dad and Judy's just to say hey.
Other than the lodge in the am for breakfast, is there any place in town that can provide food for those of that might be travelin light? i personally know of the gas station n rite aide for possibilities.
Yep, there are a few places to eat. The Log Cabin is pretty good. Its on 16 just south of 50. I'm thinking about taking 16 to 47 into Parkersburg to "Pizza Place" on Friday. Some New York transplants opened up their "Pizza Place" way back when I was a kid.... grew up eating it and I think its some of the best pie around.
Mark, not sure what time we will arrive, but it won't be late; 4 ish perhaps?
Shawn, do you all have a plan yet? I don't want to take over or screw stuff up because I'm up for anything, but here's what I'm thinking if there aren't plans yet... (First off, are your folks all alright with slabbing it to Wheeling? Can everyone make it ~130 miles on a tank?)
I was thinking we'd meet up around 830, leave Columbus about 900. Slab to wheeling (2.5 hrs and 130 miles) gas/snack/lunch stop. Leave Wheeling noonish heading south on the small roads/dirt/gravel. I figure it'll take us 4 hours or so to get down there on the TWVT. That puts us in Harrisville about 4pm to setup camp, and we should be good to go for dinner with everyone after that.
Just thinking out loud, like I said, I'm up for anything, so let me know!
