Took the Uly for great summer ride yesterday over to Evil days in Butte. Had a chance to look closely at a 1949 Vincent and talk with the owner...also had the opportunity to meet and visit with the author of the new publication "Motorcycling in Montana", which I had recently purchased....for anyone planning to ride in MT it is a very good publication and I would highly recommend it. The Uly ran flawlessly and was a joy to ride....50 years from now folks will be seeing Buells in the bike shows and realize what unique machines they were. Also saw a two up Uly with full compliments of bags headed west on 90 right out of Butte. A very memorable day for me with the Uly. |

You are one lucky dude, Mtdan. I've only been back in FL from my Colorado trip for several days and I'm really missing being out west. No comparison between the two places. Thanks for the book recommendation, we plan to return. Did you take any pics? |

I very much enjoyed my ride across Montana (E to W mainly on US 2) during June as part of my US West 2012 trip. Even if I was on the Ducati Milledue, and not my wonderful '06 Uly. Had a great time in Montana; can't wait to return. --Doc PS. Did notice that Montana (horizontally, at least) is a LARGE state. Took me many days to cross... |

Before we let Alaska sneak in Mt. was the third largest state slightly smaller sq. mile wise than Calif. |

And Montana definitely has more road between gas stations then these eastern states. I was very happy to see a mail box right in front of me when my Uly finally drifted to a stop on a road where I didn't see a house for the last two hours. Even happier when there was someone home and they had some gas in the barn to sell me. I now carry a couple of MSR bottles and the next bike will have a larger gas tank. Beautiful state to ride across though, can't wait for the next trip..... |

Evil days lasts 3 three days and is like a carnival, but is like most gatherings of bikers, always interesting with unique individuals in attendance. Sorry,no pics as I am an old low tech guy. Lots of great rides out this way and often with low traffic volume. The book mentioned would key a visitor into most of the best rides out this way. |
