I run a piece of camera film around the oil seal and pulled out what looked like a small piece of paper towel? I was real shocked to see it. Anyway the seal was ok after I removed it and after a 70 mile run it is perfect. No oil or anything. I recall this tip from here and the past. Thank you all for your help. I am now going to spend the money I saved on repairs on beer, gas and bullets.   Natexlh1000 Posted on Wednesday, August 01, 2012 - 03:49 pm:        I tried that on my X1 a couple of years. Crumbs of dead fork seal came out. Then it really leaked! My X1 had too much salt in its diet and the steel reinforcing wire swelled up and seal crapped out.   Uly_man Posted on Wednesday, August 01, 2012 - 04:13 pm:        No mine was a free fix because a lump of crap had got behind the seal and made it leak. It seemed to reduce the leak for a while but after a couple of days of (hard) riding the leak was back. My dust seals are dry rotted and cracked so that's probably letting trash get into the seals. I am NOT British I am English? "What are you going to put the bullets in, your government took all your guns away, didn't they?" Yes they did. We do not "put them in" anything we just throw them at the target? That or just sit thinking of what it was like. They want to do the same with our bikes a well. Man you even have to pay to PARK a bike these days.
