I bought a 1125 that was a Track bike. Picked it up because of the amazing deal when taking into account everything the bike had done. (chain drive, alternator, flexiglass fairings, etc. Lots a money i stole it cheap. I know of one major issue with the recall for a 08 being the tach has a power draw when off killing batteries. And if im not mistaken the way to tell the two tachs apart is the new one will display gear position. Im having a battery dieing issue but harley says my vin is recall complete. I have no gear indication. So either this tach wasnt originally with this motor or somewhere in the chain drive conversion and building of this track bike the gear indication switch or what have you is not hooked up regaurdless i want to fix both issues. does anyone have a picture of where the wires for gear indication should be? I thought it was ecm driven based on speed and rpm, but i could be wrong. Down by the kickstand area i have two wires with no connector spliced together. kinda my first guess area. |

09 was the first year to have the gear indicator. There was no recall for the tach(IC) but many were replaced on warranty. Gear is calculated from rpm and speed, no wires. Your IC doesn't have the gear indicator, but it DOES display engine temp even when cold. The new IC (unless you have a race ECM) displays "COLD" until it gets to OpTemp. Not all 08 ICs had the power drain, mine never did and Loretta was made at the end of the first week of production Nov 2007. I got an 09 IC when the "toggle"switch collapsed and stopped switching. The two wires are for the sidestand switch we don't have in the USA. HTH Z |

Not sure if this applies but that's your call. Key switch off + engine run switch on = battery drain. Engine run switch off + key switch off = no battery drain. |

Seemed to work with my 08 - only forgot to do it once - won't forget again ... |

Zac Thanks for the info and solving the wires mystery changel you might have hit the nail on the head. I am in habit from my CBR to just turn the key off and leave the engine run switch on. It was never a issue. |
