Hey guys, Just cashed in my airline miles for a $200 Amazon gift card which means I can get a new toy without feeling guilty. Anyways, I have been kind of OCD about my carb tuning over the past few months, so figured an A/F ratio monitor would be a good idea. So far the one that caught my eye was by NGK: http://www.amazon.com/NGK-Powerdex-Air-Fuel-Ratio- Monitor/dp/B0018MUNTM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=13427 40389&sr=8-2&keywords=Air+Fuel+Monitoring+System Anyone try this monitor out? Or have any suggestions on other models? Thanks |

This one includes the Sensor for the same price. They also have digital readout versions. http://www.aemelectronics.com/wideband-air-fuel-sy stems-15/analog-wideband-air-fuel-gauge-31/ Sorry, try: http://www.amazon.com/AEM-30-5130-Analog-Wideband-Ratio/dp/B004J2605Y/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_4 (Message edited by jayvee on July 20, 2012) |

www.knfilters.com has a Fuel/Air Kit ... J.C.Whitney used to sell a Fuel/Air Gauge and they told me who their supplier was and "i" built my own ... If you want to know what "i" know, just PM me ... |

I have the NGK wide band and I like it a lot. It comes with good instructions and is not hard to use. My Buell has a battery tender lead that I use to power the unit and the unit fits into the clear window in my tank bag. The 02 sensor fits into the bung on the X1 header that is on my M2. Makes tuning very easy because it eliminates the guesswork and lets you know when you get it right. I bought mine a few years ago for almost the same price. I would do it again. Tuning your motorcycle on a DYNO is just getting it in the ball park, "BUT" TUNING WITH WITH A FUEL/AIR GAUGE IS TUNING IN THE REAL WORLD WHERE YOU RIDE WITH YOU SETTING ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE !!! |

Awesome, I'm glad to hear people have had success with these. Right now I am actually leaning towards the innovate LC-1. It seems like that unit recieve a lot of good reviews. Do you generally need an adapter to mesh these up with each individual bike? Or do you just need to install a bung / O2, sensor, and then hook up a power lead? The other questions I had is how does the data logging work? Do you plug a jump drive into the unit as you drive? |

My set set-up works on the "KISS" idea as in Keep It Simple Stupid" ... The GAUGE has bars on it and "i" deside what FUEL/AIR RATIO is good for my engine ... (Message edited by buellistic on July 23, 2012) |

True. Ultimately my inner nerd would like to make A/F plots at different throttle positions though. I take it I would have to buy a data logger seperate? |

Some have a logging capability, but with a carb how will you know what throttle position you are at? |

Hmm any idea of the innovate lc1 does? Says in the website that is comes with data lg software but doesnt mention a logger. I planned on marking off radial values on my throttle and doing multiple runs (idle, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and full throttle) |

IMPROVISED LOGGER: Mark your throttle holder ... With throttle closed put a mark on throttle grip ... Open throttle (WOT) place mark on throttle grip ... Now between CLOSED and WOT do 1/2 throttle, then 1/4 throttle, finishing with 3/4 throttle ... Now you mind can do the LOGGER work if you have a retentive memory ... You can use a paint tip marker to make marks ... |

Not a bad idea. Just out of curiosity, what should I look for in terms of a good A/F ratio for a 00' cyclone? |

For an every day ride 13.7 to 1 ... "BUT" before you start tuning your carburetor the following should be correct/good: TIMING CARBURETOR SEALS SPARK PLUG GAP THROTTLE CABLES ADJUSTED CORRECTLY |

Good deal. I have the timing / seals / gaps all set. Just looking to perfect it at this point. |
