V2Win; I bought the hardware for the S3 bags piece-meal - the kit includes the bags. I should have the list somewhere, but Mike is right, there was a recall .pdf somewhere. I'll look through the piles. I do remember though; do not order the wire extensions for the turn signals or the SS clamps. Absurdly overpriced; as in $12 for a 6" length of wire with bullet connectors ... and you'll need 4. Also, when you mount the new rear turn signals, make sure to add a reinforcement plate to the inside of the S2 tail section, or the mounting holes will crack and signals tear out in short order  trust me. After seeing that, I added a thin SS plate to the inside, stuck on with Goop and drilled holes for wires and signals. It's held up for some 5000 miles now. Henrik | ||

V2, sorry buddy, no dice. I called the dealership where she had the work performed, but they did not have the part number. The one fellow said he believed they put it together homemade like, without a kit. The bike looks sharp, looks like the bags belong on it. Good luck, Brian | ||

Americans don't need passports as much as Europeans do because the US is so much bigger than European countries and we can travel to Canada and Mexico (the whole North American continent) without a passport. Americans can travel very extensively without a passport. We call it freedom. 2. All Americans are immigrants or children of immigrants. Our families and indeed our culture are rich with the traditions of a vast diversity of cultures from all over the world. Your implication of American ignorance is demonstrably ignorant. I lived out side of the USA from 1969---1995.I have the stamps in my passport(s) to prove that I have worked in more than 80 countrys. Some are very bad and some are very nice, but we have not had to build a fence around her to keep our people here. SEZ a lot I thank. | ||

I'm actually from England but have been to the States loads of times North, South, East and West, I've also been to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Phillipines, North Africa, South Africa, South America including Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Libya, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Dubia, most places in the Middle East, most places in the Far East including Pakistan, India, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong plus Norway, Holland, Belgium, France Italy, Moscow plus numerous other places I cannot remember at the moment, so in fact I would say I have travelled a bit and have seen places most of you probably only watch on the discovery channel... so when I make a tongue in cheek comment about what I regard as a typical american statement it always has the required response.... I've also been to the IOM TT races 6 years on the trot  Oh, and before some mad Scots or Welshs complain I've missed them out...I've been there too. | ||

Warning: the following is a confusing muddle of irony, satire and fact Europeans can get into a heck of a lot more foreign countries without a passport than Americans. Can't disagree with the immigrant statment though. I just dislike the disparity that because one group immigrated here 20,000 years before my great grandfather jumped ship while it was in port they get special treatment. I mean heck they got 20,000 years of living on our land rent free and they still want more!?! | ||

Yep, America has always had its share of warts. No big deal, they all worked themselves out over time. Yeah, some needed some legislative help but the path became clear. Problem is that over legislation has created a number of new warts that have turned out to be both malignant and perhaps fatal. This applies to social and economic issues on both the domestic and international fronts. Is there a cure? Yes. Can the cure be found? Not without our politicians and corporate/union leaders rediscovering their responsibilities to America. If the cure is found will it be implemented? Not without a reawakening of the general populous and their willingness to improve America. Never-so-humble opinion: America used to be a melting pot and it worked as long as folks assimilated into our society. That must have applied to the soft metals like gold and lead (read: immigrants that wanted to improve their opportunities and lot in life by blending in with a free society). The new hybrid alloys that have been infiltrating the system over the last 50+ years simply are not melting in, are causing society and the system to fragment and head into a downward spiral. In as much as I hated the man and his agenda, perhaps we need a Eugene McCarthy derivative to get our nationalism fired up again. Pray to God or whatever floats your boat that America wakes up and starts correcting the downward trend before such a disgusting animal is appointed to clean up the mess. | ||

Lol, I traced my family's ancestory for a class and found out some pretty interesting things. One of my relatives on the Cessna side fought in every American conflict the country was involved in since the French and Indian War. Major John Cessna III fought as Col. for Washington, signed the Constitution, as well as was a member of the Frontier Safety Committee. (One can verify that info here http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/module/1544/id39.htm ) My mother's family is Native American, from the Cherokee Nation. Her father was German and mother,of course, Cherokee. I found that rather ironic, hell they may have fought each other in the frontier days! While these conversations are so interesting, I do have a Buell related question. I may sound a little nieve when I ask this, but did Buell ever have a bone stock Harley Davidson engine in one of thier bikes? This would help settle an arguement if anyone can tell me. V2Win; I found the list for the bag kit. The kit instructions is #J01897 REV. 3-16-01. Maybe Daves or Bubba can dig up a copy for you. I have a faxed copy of a fax and it is barely readable as it is. I do, however, have a good copy of the parts list (BPAB #25, dated 04/05/01 - again Dave or Bubba may be of assistance) that I can fax to you. So shoot me an email with a fax number if you have one. I think the XR1000 plant was pretty much stock, if you could call it that (compared to what else was being put out at the time).. But you'll need one of the more in depth types to verify that.. Later. | ||

The rig, called a modular transporter, is a similar rig that moves the space shuttle. They have 208 tires on 26 axles. It weighed in right around 1,100 tons. The modular transporter averaged about 4 miles an hour. The last 200 mile leg, from Penasco to Palo Verde took 2 months. We finished up "our part" right after Christmas. Pertty cool, -JW:>  | ||

Al "L", noticed ur post mentioning (as you dreamed) a replacement for the S3...Buell better get it going cuz I am ready this May-ish to break from the fold and buy a new bike. Most likely will keep the my S3T. If they do replace the S3T, they will have to lengthen that XB frame, as I can not deal with that current set up. The current BRAG magazine mentions a new California ride in the Napa area. That I can not wait for! I have penciled it in! Dino, watch that black ice! | ||

Bart you saved me! A fella was trying to tell me that Harley would never "sell out" their technology to another bike. He has been into Hogs for years, he has his own shop out here where he wrenchs on them. I tried to explain the relationship of the two companies, but that was a no go. "What would Harley want with them there crotchrockets?" was his basic thoughts. Some people just dont get it. Jim it's things like your pictures that makes me watch Modern Marvels on the History Channel. That is way to cool, I can't wait to show the old man, he digs anything out of the ordinary. Stingaroo, I have run into that "type" of mentality many times, in the years I've been riding my S2. Guys would ask me why I would stuff a harley motor in a damn crotch rocket and I would have to inform them that Harley supplied the motors back in those days, and now owns the company. Buell may be a separate entity, but is owned by HD. tell him to take his blinders off and go to a dealership and look around. He would be surprised I'm sure. Good luck convincing him that some folks desire an american bike that Handles and stops with the best of them. I have found Buelligans to be as dedicated to the brand as Harley riders, but much more informed and understanding. (I've probably just opened a can of worms there) I'll leave it at that. | ||
