I've got my 2008 xt running pretty well and all shined up. I bought it last summer with 2000 miles and now it has 12000. It's all broken in and is uber-fun to ride.

The thing that gets me, that which I'd love to know why is happening, is that after cruising at a constant speed and rpm I come to a stop. When I go to take off again the bike frequently (8 out of 10 times) will burp back through the air intake and almost die. I let off the gas quickly and then I can accelerate again with no problem.

I had the bike in the local HD shop last summer and they replaced the ECM and put the 2009 flash program in it. I lost A LOT of "get up and go" with the new programming, power that never came back, even after the learning period. I believe the previous ECM was stock.

Try first of all to make a TPS reset.

tps reset makes absolutely no difference...

When it's hot out the bike burps at stops. In cooler weather, not as much.

Check and clean your IAC w/ qtips and alcohol, or carb cleaner.

My '08 X does the same thing.

Only difference is that sometimes when warming up (about 1km from home) it will cough and pop to the point that I can barely get going from a stop.

Last week I noticed that the resin is separating from my ECM at one of the connectors... not sure if it's related.

I am almost wondering if this bad behavior is related to my 250lb body applying pressure to the ECM connectors on take off!?!?

I've only had mine for a month and it's done this since I've had it. Not sure if it's ever been re-flashed (no records - it was a trade-in).

Please post if you find a solution to this problem!

Mine did that until I bought the EBR ECM. Now it doesn't "burp", much more civilized when cold, and generally runs smoother with the most obvious improvement being under 3000 rpm. Best $250 you'll ever spend on your Uly.
