I had no luck with the search so I am asking. Without taking the wheel off and then taking it apart, how would I determine how many bearings my rear wheel/axle has? I have a 2009 1125R manufacture date of Oct 2008. Thanks. |

If you are running the original wheel the bike left the factory with, your bike has two 6006 size bearings. Only 2010 model year bikes were built with the 2010 wheel with 3 bearings. |

Is there a way to tell by looking at the bare wheel? I bought a Piranha black w/red stripe bare wheel and don't know if I need the 3 bearing/axle/spacer kit or not. Thanks, Nels |

Do you have a non 2010 wheel on your bike now? If so a visual comparison should tell you the bearings for the 2010 wheels are a good bit bigger in diameter and the pocket on the drive side is far deeper ad the third bearing is on the drive side. |

Thanks for the heads-up! I've got 3 mounted <2010 wheels that I can compare bearing OD with. Don't think I'll be able to measure pocket depth on the <2010 wheels since they all have bearing fitted. Nels |

The dif in diameter alone is pretty telling. |

I believe the axles are anodized a different color...when I had to replace my brgs. I purchased a 3 brg set up not knowing the wheel also has to be upgraded
2 brg wheel = silver axle 3 brg wheel = black axle |

The axles are interchangeable. I'm using the black anodized 3 bearing axle with a 2008 two bearing wheel. The axle diameter is the same. The axles are machined down to a smaller diameter where between the bearings. The new axle has a smaller section that is machined down. It has twice the length of full size diameter on the belt side to accept two bearings on that one side. It is the same as the old axle on the other side where it accepts still just one bearing. I believe the new anodized axle is a replacement part for the older bare two bearing axle that is no longer made. The outer diameter of the bearing is much bigger, and only fits the three bearing wheel. |

Thanks for the help, guys. Measured the OD and was roughly 2 1/4" on all my rear wheels. Looks like I'm old school all the way. Nels |
