Ok, I changed my battery about 2 days before this happened. I was riding home the other day on the free way the battery light came on for a little while, any way I was doing about 70, turning into my sub division, down shifted into 5th, then down shifted into 4th and when I let out on the clutch the rear wheel did not want to turn (no I was not doing 70 when I down shifted to 4th, it was around 50 mph). I looked down and the bike said "system voltage" I immediately pulled the clutch in and she rolled again. I checked to make sure what gear I was in just to make sure I didn't accidentally drop her down too much. It was in 4th. After I came to a stop, I shut the ignition off then back on then the bike said "theft error". OK obviously the battery is dead, cause that is what comes up when the battery is dead. I'm thinking the stator is bad, but what I don't understand is why the bike locked up and tried to throw me off???? I pulled the plugs out and put it in 6th gear, being off, and I pushed it to make sure the motor wasn't froze. It is fine, but I am at a loss for why the wheel actually locked up.... Any ideas or similar experiences???? |

Your voltage dropped too low, the fuel system shut down. If you weren't changing gears, all that would happen is you would have a lot of engine braking and would come to a stop. You squeezed the clutch to shift, your engine speed dropped to near zero. When you released the clutch, engine speed was no longer in sync with wheel speed, and you get what had happened. You basically were trying to push start the bike, which is difficult at best on the 1125, so all that happened was the rear tire locked as it wasn't able to turn the motor over. |

You make taking the plugs out sound so easy. Was it? Do you have a secret? |

arch angel it's really not thaaat hard to get the spark plugs out. rear take the seat off and it's right there. front take the scoop out and it's right there but takes a universal joint to get in to the plug itself. |

Yeah it wasn't that hard, the hardest part was probably getting the plug wire / ignition pack back into the front plug hole. Here is a pic of the tools I had for it, This is all I used, and I pulled the seat, rear plastic, battery, air cleaner cover, air cleaner box and everything off to ge to the plugs. Look at the right mirror......... He's watching you......

Yeah, I tried to bump start my 1125 just for the fun of it, and I had to massively slip the clutch in 6th gear from 70 mph down to about 40 mph just to get it to turn over these babies don't want to turn over if not running |

I had a few folks try to push start mine at Black Hawk Farms... it sucked. We did get it started but damn if I wasn't wishing my starter switch was working! |

i bump started mine in a 7-11 parking lot during daytona this year:-( had a little help from one of my hooligan friends and a downward sloping parking lot. either 3rd or 4th gear did the trick. then i bought a new battery which reeeealllly did the trick |

Thanks. Your first post made it sound so matter of fact, I thought you had a trick. At least you didn't have to rotate the engine. I wonder how many other bikes require an engine rotation to get to the plugs? |

How many bikes require you to remove half the bike to change the clutch? Regardless of bike, some things will be harder than average to do, while other things easier to do. At least on the 1125R, the valve adjustment interval is the same as plug replacement, so you would be killing two birds with one stone. Even then, there have been many tricks discovered to make things faster and easier. (Message edited by froggy on July 12, 2012) |

not to mention the clutch on a BMW costs about 1,000,000 dollars. I used to have a k1200r, fun bike, but sooo expensive. Makes the 1125's problems seem idiotic. |

I know, a Moto Guzzi clutch after 100,000 miles. |

If "theft error" displayed, I'd be inclined to think that the CAN bus lost communication to the ECM. I'd check your connections between the cluster and the ECM/CAN. |

could be loss of commo but also very common to see that error due to low battery |
