Hey fellow blaster I am new to the Buell scene and love the bike. But since buying my 2001 Blast with 1700 mile it has been in my garage more than on the street. When I bought it I performed a tune up and detailed inspection but now I have a real problem, if I turn the petcock even slightly out of the off position it pours fuel from around the dial. I looked for a rebuild seal kit or brand new factory one with no luck. So anyone know how to help me? Or can I put a later year Moslem one on and if so what other parts are interchangeable with new modles. Please help I don't want to miss anymore or the season without riding. | ||

Part # P0300.T fuel petcock I couldnt readily find a retailer. Have you contacted a Buell dealer directly to see if they can get the part? Blasts get parted out on e-bay fairly regularly and complete gas tanks can be had often cheaply. Contact any of the sellers who seem to have a bunch of parts listed and see if they have a petcock. They'll usually list it for you if they have it. If you can seal the petcock open (no leaks) you can put an inline fuel shut-off on. They are cheap and easy to install (just like a fuel filter). I really dont want to take one of mine apart to see a solution to your problem. Its probably just an o-ring or a gasket, but if you can find a way to bypass it, then the inline petcock is an easy solution. Sorry I cant be of more help. | ||

I do not know of any parts that will interchange. All Blasts are the same though. Does it still leak if its fully open? On reserve? | ||

Thanks Gearheaderiko. The petcock leaks or should I say pours in any position other than the one spot I found in the off position. I plan to drain the tank and remove the petcock for disassembly in the morning. Do u have any warnings or precautions for doing this? I will keep u posted on my findings. No warnings. If you decide to remove the tank, make sure you grease the two pins that the rubber tank stoppers slide onto (you'll know what I mean if you remove the tank). But you dont need to remove the tank. | ||

Sorry to re-open a discussion, but looks like this is the same conversation for a petcock replacement. I recently bought a 2001 Blast w/ only 600 miles on it. The first time I needed the Reserve, I broke the brittle handle off the petcock as I was on the highway. Broke it off so cleanly there was nothing to grab. Obviously I need to replace it. Petcock was clean internally but useless. I would like to use a metal version of it. Wow, that's pricey, plus the price of a Pingel!! It looks right, but I have no idea if it fits. How about something like this run inline after you turn yours on?
