After a 300 mile ride up to Mt Washington NH I decided to give in to some minor touring mods for my 1125 and I thought I'd share.

- Installed a High Bar kit I ordered from Al at American Sport Bike
- Mounted a Garmin nuvi 765t following a thread I saw on here. (Thanks Puzzeled!)
- Installed a throttlemeister throttle lock for those long highway hauls
- Picked up some Cortech saddle bags that work great
- I already had some Uly dropped pegs for a while and my old trusty Buell Custom seat transplanted from my old 05 xb12r

I haven't taken a long trip with these mods yet but so far the high bars added some needed comfort and put me in a slightly better riding position but still lets be go full tuck comfortably and also make the steering a little different with the extra leverage.

I've been thinking about sending my TMs in to have the fluted cuts made. Are the edges beveled, or are they at all sharp? Just wondering what they might do to a pair of expensive gloves. thx.

@timebandit the fluted cuts on the TMs aren't sharp so your gloves should be fine. I got the fluted cuts just for the extra grip and they look cool too

How do you like the high bars? Do they make that much of a difference in comfort?

@Daggar I've only had them for a week but so far I feel my arms are less stretched out and more relaxed and my back is at a less steep angle which has been easier on back. I'm about average size at 5"11 @ 185 lbs and I feel a nice bump in comfort.

I also have the high bars from American Sportbike and the Uly pegs. Love them, absolutely the best mod for longer distances--yet still sporty!

How did you connect the GPS to the power source? I see you've got the heated grips too. Did you split the power connector to handle both things?

how did you mount your GPS?

I like what you've done.
I've done a few trips of similar distance on my R and so far just the Buell luggage (saddlebags, large tail, and tank), want to put a throttle lock on it as well as GPS

Your bags are on backwards. The wind will pull the flaps open and your huggies will fly all over the highway. Don't ask me how I know!!

How do the high bars make it for cornering? I like long rides but sometimes I like to hit the twisties.

I took two long trips on Loretta in 2008.
April I left Longmont, CO for Cuero, TX.

Then in June, I went to Homecoming.

I have a Uly now and it's much better for trips.

@Captjoe The heated grips have a daisy chain with another plug so you just need to buy the Uly power adapter and plug it in.

@Hybridmomentspass I followed a thread I found on here and bought a sand bag dashboard mount and modified it then used double sided tape. I followed what Puzzled did in this thread http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/609658.html

@Tdiddy Thanks for pointing it out, I wasn't sure which way they went but I'll take your word for it.

@Craigg The bars are fine for cornering, the only difference I noticed is the steering takes less effort with the added leverage.

@Zac4mac I do sense and Uly in my future once I have the funds for a 2nd bike.
