Nice video Shane. Here is a time lapse of the Waldo Canyon Fire that Lynn and I came home to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBA7eHY022k&sns=em |

Impressive fire. With the dry hot windy conditions in forests gray with the ghosts of bark beetle killed trees I saw in Wyoming, I am guessing that as the summer progresses we will be seeing a lot more of this moving northward. |

Thanks for the cross posting, Frank. Sorry to all for not keeping in touch. We're just working our way home on the secondary highways. #70 across Kentucky was nice. The 55 mph is easier on the engine and us, as well as providing some shade. Managing 300 miles a day, which is all our butts will take, riding two up. Only used the tent once so far, but that was at Deal's Gap, where they probably didn't have a room but we didn't know because there was a power outage and no staff around. |

Rex- While May may seem okay after living in the south, crossing the northern tier in May can be an iffy proposition. Eric-You and Jaci are on an epic ride. There is no easy way back across the great plains, but hwy2 or hwy20 across Nebraska to get to the Black Hills is good, or I94 across North Dakota if you are not going to the Black Hills. I have tried others, those are the best I have found. Mike- Glad you found 19, that is one kickass road. Shane |

Shane That was an awesome video and I appreciate you sharing it with the rest of us. You always seem to out do yourself each year and I can hardly wait until next year. I especially like the segment in the tent where you are in the thunderstorm, great stuff Ed |

Shane...great video.....almost ready for prime time!!! I was looking out the window as it was raining and thought of you....my bike is parked under the front overhang and its nice and warm in the room. I was staying at 100+ yr. old hotel and the very slow wireless kept dropping the video.....so, I watched it last night in a differant motel and it made me get my gopro back out..........(I have not been using it, cause it records fine and then it jumps ahead, missing some footage)....???.....I did not bring the manuel to check settings and none on the GP site. I had it set at HD large frame......maybe the storage card can't keep up?? This place had an amazing feel to it.........47,000Sq. feet.......all wood They even had a lobby dog.......just hanging out Cherokee war memorial park bear......... Yesterday started the Blue Ridge Parkway.........great road Lots of tunnels............. Lots of Harleys........ Lots of great views............ Lots of curves..............mostly med. tight sweepers........one after another.........almost 500 miles worth. Downed power line....just off the Parkway. Road was closed..but plenty of room for a MC to get through...........holels are pretty much full............people with no power are flocking to where there is power and staying in hotels. Ride safe you guys.......Jack |

Great trip you are having Jack. Cool photos too. Still going all the way up to Maine? I am just back working and dreaming of the next long ride... Eric- How are you and Jaci doing? Looks like you maybe got out of the midwest just in time to beat the really bad heat. Happy you all liked the video. It was kind of a beginners effort. I need to download stuff from my phone camera and do a re-edit, I know I can do better. We should actually have our second 80 degree day of the year here today, might even see 90 over the weekend? Payoff for all the cold and wet last month (that I missed). Shane |

"It was kind of a beginners effort." I like your "beginners effort" better than most peoples refined products. Jack, as always. you have a great eye. Eric and Jaci, ride safe and provide an update when you get home, or sooner. Frank |

We had our arms twisted to go north to see The Wind Caves, near Sturgis, with a plan to also see the Jewel Caves. We couldn't get in to the Jewel Caves so we'll have to return for that. Also passed on the time required for Mt. Rushmore. I'm fighting a bad cold or bronchitis so we're minimizing a bit. Currently in Billings, Montana, with the decision that we haven't enough tire-tread left to make the distance. Hope to still have time for the Beartooth Pass, Lola Pass, and Lewiston to Enterprise, as three of the top fifteen roads per the AMA. That should put us in Seattle Wednesday night for some blues at Highway 99 Blues Club. God willin' and the creek don't rise. |

More great shots, Jack! If I grow up, I want to be just like you! Eric, hope you feel better soon. My son rode the Beartooth a couple of years ago and says it's the best bike road he's ever been on, so go for it! rt |

Beartooth has a lot of construction advisories. Check here- http://www.beartoothhighway.com/tripPlanning/BAARC onstruction.html So if you go, do it for the views, not the riding. Lolo has maintenance every year. Last year when I went through there were some frost heaves to watch out for, but overall pretty good. They are not starting paving operations until later this month so should be a good ride. |

Moving along pretty good for only 1 HP.............this was somewhere in DE. Not many bikes on the road???...........mostly Harleys. Still a lot of flags................ Tons of broken branches waiting to be picked up........ You can't really see them....there were 5 trucks lined up doing storm repair............. About a half hour from Wood Lake NJ...............quite a nice area............ Off to the big apple tomorrow................... Hey RT..........you DON'T have to grow up................(trust me)!!! Bart......I'm no fan of his, but I knew a lot of my friends would get a kick out of the pic. Ride safe.....Jack |

>>>>>$450.00 a month for a car Plus the 18-1/2% tax . . . .and about $3.00 a day in tips (if you want to wait less than an hour) . . .budget $700 per month per car to park. Sounds expensive until you look at a $6,500 per month 900SF apartment. :-) If you're around today . . . drop me a note and I'll show you some stuff you will NEVER see and won't believe. There is a reason that you are one of the (on average) 375,000 PER DAY who come to visit. |

By the way . . . .you could not have picked a NICER day to be here . . . I rode my bike up the West Side Highway early this morning and it's spectacular. If you decide to give up the motor for a bit you can rent a bike and there is a bike highway that runs for miles and miles . . . I typically go at far as about 57th . . . shoot over past the BMW headquarters . . . past Columbus Circle and make a couple laps of Central Park then back home. Eager to hear about your day . . . if you get stuck or need anything I'm about a chip shot away drop me a note or call. |
