Went home for lunch today, and received the latest issue of Roadracing World magazine. Interview with Erik, he says he is planning to go racing in World Superbike in 2013!!! How awesome is that. Talks about the production of the new RX which would have to be homologated for WSBK. Start building Erik so we can start buying, WOO HOO!!!!

They would need to produce and sale 1000 RX's to be able to compete in WSBK.

And what do you think their target is for next year? More than 1k bikes for sure.

Here is something to contemplate, looks like Ducati is going to give Nicky Hayden the boot (totally unjustified in my opinion) Eric said he wants to put an EBR in WSBK with an American rider!! Now how awesome would it be for Eric to get Nicky on an EBR!! Food for thought?

Why cut hayden when rossi is the one that's been sucking it up lately?
but i agree it would be legit to see Hayden on an ebr.
u think he would go down to wsbk from moto gp.

I thought I remembered it thus:

Must be a reason at the announcement with Hero, the bike was sporting #69...

Unfortunately,Rossi is still way ahead of Hayden in the points standings...

Sure, he's underachieving, but still ahead.

Zacks-
That bike sports the 69 because that is the number for Danny Eslick who races the bike in AMA Superbike.

@ Terrys1980, Ducati run an 1198 in WSBK, so why would the 1190 not be able to run?
Superbike racing motorcycles are derived from standard production models. In the past, however, manufacturers took advantage of loopholes in the rules to create "homologation specials" — motorcycles with low production numbers made especially for racing.

Why are you dragging me back into this 6 days later? I admit I should have done a bit more reading before I posted but still in all there is still a number of bikes that need to be built within the next year or two for them to be able to compete.

Read the thread 99BuellX1 posted.

They don't need a 1000 bikes at the start of the season they need 1000 bikes by the end of the season.

I guess sometimes the jokes are too subtle.
69 has been Nicky's number since he turned pro.
Kinda like Kevin Schwantz and 34 - even the year he carried the #1 plate, there was a little 34 contained within the 1.
