So I changed out my plugs today because I thought I fouled them up at RA doing little trips around the track. The bike has been running like sheyat lately and it seems to have been getting worse. Driving around town was becoming a bear because I had to keep the revs up to keep it smooth. Low speed riding felt like it was a stock setup, jerky. It has an RT-3 with the matching EBR ECM, and when I first installed the setup the bike ran like a monster with no issues. So I did the plug change today to see if the plugs were still fouled or if the bike was running lean. The plugs indicate a lean mixture on both cylinders. The day I think I fouled the plugs it started to feel 'off' and has been getting worse since, but looking at them now indicates that it's an air/fuel issue. After the checking the plugs I fired the bike up, and I put my hand behind the RT-3 to see if the exhaust wasn't causing enough back pressure. It didn't affect the idle at all so I'm guessing there's a leak somewhere by the intake. If it turns out that there isn't a leak by the intake I'm probably going to lose my cool. I never messed with an ECM tuner but I'm pretty smart when it comes to how engines run and air/fuel mixture setups. The fact that this setup is starting to not work is really getting to me. I love the RT-3 and I don't want to part with it either. BTW I broke a clamp for the header-to-midpipe while dicking around and checking for leaks. Just more aggravation. |

By your description of "I put my hand behind the RT-3 to see if the exhaust wasn't causing enough back pressure"... This would indicate an exhaust leak! You may benefit from a TPS reset too. |
