Yes, and no problems. It is not something you should regularly do, especially in neutral. |

I'll hit it occasionally in second and third. Never a problem. |

I've bounced off the rev limiter on my Uly many times. Usually when entering a freeway, in lower gears. Nothing detrimental has occurred to my Uly's engine, in 26k miles. In a healthy engine there should be no problems from hitting the "rev limiter." The "rev limiter" is there to prevent problems, during acceleration. Over rev occurs when down shifting to a lower gear, at too high speed. Bent valves or push rods would be most likely problems seen. |

Repeatedly hitting rev limit on acceleration will beat up the big end bearings. Improved 2008+ models with bigger bottom end bearings. Rev limit on downshifting (over-revving) WILL be more trouble as mentioned above. |

Hitting the soft limit shouldn't ever be a problem should it? I've never hit the hard limit yet. |

Nah, its a push rod engine. Just don't hold it at red line and you'll be fine. |

Blast yes, XB9 yes, 1125CR yes, every rental I've ever had yes. Pre-rev limit days - over rev'd and damaged: all types of dirt bikes many many times. 64 Triumph Bonni - more than once. Various Dodges - more than once. Rev limiters are one of the many benefits to the modern age if designed right - you hit them - they do no harm. Avis might disagree - more than once. |

25,000 miles of redline almost every time it was out. and beat to death on the track. bearings and such looked good when it got torn down. (all except the main shaft bearing that was taken out by bad swingarm bushings over stressing the mainshaft bearing via the belt) |

I regularly take it right up to the limiter before shifting and probably once a week the limiter catches me pushing a little hard . no problems. I knew a guy who bought his first new car and decided it would be best to never push it past 2500 rpm. He actually brought the car (4 cylinder OHC with a manual trans) in for service after about a month claiming lack of power. It ended with the mechanic teaching him how to drive. I thought that took care of it but later he complained that the car had trouble climbing a hill so he upshifted into the highest gear and it still had trouble. |

It happens on occasion. No troubles yet at 49k miles. |

Ever since I got my R1 I seem to hit the rev limiter a few times per ride on the XB. |
