Found us. Even in the v twin section to boot. I think Jack takes better pictures. Bart took great pictures during the first event. As a matter of fact that pic is blown up and on my wall. |

Made it home last night around 4pm. Unpacked and washed the bike. Walking back into the garage I notice the nice line of metal cords running down the center of the tire!! The new Continental's don't have tread in the center, so there wasn't anything to judge the wear on the center like there used to be. It looked OK, until you saw the spot where the steel cords were showing! Total trip was just a tad over 3400... The 'ol S2 ran great! As everyone else stated, I too enjoyed seeing everyone. Lauren and Mary Beth, another BIG THANK YOU! for the excellent event! Jay, thanks for the Buell swag! I ended up needing that Buell hoody! Riding along the river in PA on Monday evening the temps were in the 50/60's. After all the previous states being in the high 90's or low 100's, I was about to freeze! Slept inside the sleeping bag with the hoody on, just trying to warm back up! With a couple of days riding, and 15-1600 miles, I had plenty of time to think about next years rally... Regardless of whether, or not, EButch still wants, or is able, to put on next years event in NY, I will go ahead and have the rally. I just need to start on it now... |

Buffalobolt glad to hear you made it home ok. Look forward to seeing you in NY next year. One thought though try to make it a different weekend than this years as it conflicts with another event I am connected with and I have to make a choice on which one I attend Ed |

June is a tough one for me. Depends on when it falls in June. Two middle weekends in May are usually good for me. Generally the 2nd and 3rd weekend in June is good for me. Thanks REX |

I made it home yesterday evening just before todays rain. Only a few light sprinkles for the whole trip. Just under 5700 miles for the trip, but if you count air speed against the head winds it would be more like 10000. I have never had such a hot windy trip. It really made me think about getting a large touring bike. The S2 is a great all around bike, but it isn't really at it's best on all the thousands of miles of flat straight windy roads that run between all the juicy bits of roads in this country. The funny part was that the best roads and weather with the least traffic was the ride through central Oregon. I really do appreciate what is in my back yard after seeing so much of the rest of the country. I went through WA, ID, ND, MN, WI, IL, IA, MO, AR, NE, SD, WY, OR. It was a great ride and Loren and Meribeth were fantastic hosts. They really need another big THANK YOU! I need to unpack, cleanup, catch up, decompress, download pics, etc. I will do a full ride report as soon as I can. Buflobolt Mike- did you catch hwy 19 on the way home? Wondering about Eric, Jacki, and Jack after seeing the reports of severe weather back east. |

"It really made me think about getting a large touring bike." Our definitions of "large touring bike" may differ Shane but Lynn and I went and looked at the new Kawasaki Concours. I have looked at the BMW 1200RT and Triumph is coming out with a new Trophy (ugly as sin) but with everything I would want in a large bike. The Concurs (being much cheaper) would need a few add ons but I am researching a few things. It is a nice bike. The Sport Touring market is an interesting one. I look forward to your trip writeup and pics Shane. We got a laugh at the one with the sprinkler yesterday. Frank |

Glad you made it home safely Shane. Looking forward to your pics and stories. Took out the crankshaft seal last night and it was hard as porcelain no wonder it was leaking but I guess at 70 thousand miles it was over due |

This is a great place........not only are the roads excellent........but the views are just great. Bikes everywhere. 35 miles from the Fontana Lodge.............(on 28)....... to where 129 starts getting twisty. Rode it 3 times. Wanna make sure I get my $ worth. The bridge just before the lodge. Tried posting this last night.....wouldn't work. Very, very neat old lodge, but weak whyfi.......(only in the lobby). Ride safe......Jack |

The Fontana dam..............impressive to stand a the bottom and look up. A Buell in the lodge parking lot......the owner was not out and about when I left. Before the breeze starts up........... The end of the Dragon.......... Rode the Cherohala Skyway this morning, then fought with the GSP, to take back roads to Cherokee. Great 2 laners going through small towns. Maybe only did 40 miles of so on divided 4 laners. I "guess" Eric and Jacki were here too???? Edv..........You are right............it was due. Shane............Glad your home safe!!!! Frank.........Woz has a Concurs........put a ton of miles on it.....just tires and gas. Ride safe......Jack |

Eric's post from Facebook "So. Deal's Gap. The Tail of the Dragon. 318 turns in 11 miles. Been there. Bought the T-shirt. Got the tattoo. Got the official certificate of velocity from the Tennessee State employee. Plenty of roads equally nice in our own hood but lacking the marketing and the enforcement. Mammoth Caves, largest cave system in the USA. Carlsbad is way nicer. Still 109 degrees today. I see its cold and rainy in Seattle. We're heading there!" |
