Pulled into Grand Island Nebraska at 3PM after 11 hours on the slab. Wasn't too bad just mid 90s and a tailwind. Leaving in the morning for South Dakota on hwy 2. Probably be out of cell coverage tomorrow night. Shane |

Shane, looks like you made good progress today even with the heat. Frank, glad the axle nut departure turned into being relatively minor. Loren |

Made it home tonight at 10:00pm, just over 800 miles. We missed most of the heat, and rode through 15-20 min of rain near Springfield Ill. A long day, but a good ride. Thanks again to Loren & Maribeth for putting on a first class event. I hope to get back to the area soon to do some more riding! Mike |

Thanks everyone for letting us non-S2 riders partake in your event. We made it home even though our GPS guru kept missing turns. I still prefer the old map and reading signs for geting around. Brad split off to head on back to the Cities and should be home about now. |

I think Jack was using Shane's phone as a hot spot. I took a lot of pictures. still sorting ...you and Lynn are in many. Will post some tomorrow as time permits. BTW camera fell out of pocket at 50 mph. (remember to zip pockets) still works. Speedo/Tack on the way home went screwey/louie so I snapped this.
Rode 310 mile loop with Brad,Iamike.Jeff, Duane and had a fantastic ride now definitely believe Court's statement on page #86 of "25 Years of Buell" ......that "The Buell S3 is the Gentleman's Express" is an accurate statement. (Message edited by Jramsey on June 25, 2012) |

Well that was a fun weekend! Good to see old friends and to make new ones. Thanks from both of us to Loren and Maribeth for their fine job of hosting! I remembered this morning that just because Janis Joplin thought Southern Comfort and Bourbon was a good idea doesn't mean that it was. I should choose better role models. Jaci and I started to feel human again around 2, when we got some food in us. We're currently in Mountain Home and just caught the news reports of the storm in Florida. Deal's Gap may not be a good place to be on a bike right now, but we'll check the forecast momentarily. |

Had a great time with everyone this weekend! Made a late decision to head East and rolled in about an hour ago. Spent a few seconds unpacking tonight. Tomorrow I'll see if I can sort out that minor carb issue.... Thanks all, especially to our hosts Loren & Maribeth and to Frank, Jay, Jack and Shane that add a little extra to the event. |

Roger, great to finally meet you after chatting all these years. Carb work is easy in fact I did not think about it but Shane has been known to make carb parts out of pieces of wood he finds on the road. Lynn just got up and we are enjoying coffee and we will most likely hit the last 300 miles here in about an hour. Of course we are going home to a state on fire and are a little worried but nothing we can do about it and we know our fur kids are safe so we will see how it goes. It looks that are roads are not closed and we have no evacuations in our part of the city yet. Shane, ride safe... Jack, your a machine and an inspiration to all of us. Great seeing everyone again. I am glad the non S2 and the non Buell guys showed up as it is always fun to share our passion for our machines with others. Loren and Meribeth, thanks again for a great event. |

I want to thank Meribeth & Loren for the great food. If the saddle business doesn't work out they can try catering. It was really nice not to go out and search for food. Mike |

I had a good time, it was good to see old friends, meet new ones, and enjoy the common bond that these S2's bring out in us. From the lunch ride on Friday:

Man, what a weekend! I got home last evening around 10:45 or so. Very tired and sore (still having problems with the R hand, I think I compressed a nerve in the wrist or something..). The mileage for yesterday was in the 800+ range. The temps we hit in MO were in the 95 - +100 range it stayed there until most of the way through IA. By the time I hit the MN border it was down it the low 70s, it felt downright cold! Total mileage for the trip for me was in the 2500 range. Loren and Meribeth, thank you for the great adventure and providing us with such a great start and finish to our riding day. You were EXCELLENT hosts. I'm off to unpack the bike, too tired last night. I'll dig out the camera and post some pics. Sure wish we had some of the "Running of the Goats"...... Mike, Duane and Jeff, it was great riding with all of you. Another epic trip with stories to match.. Brad |

Lynn and I made it home about an hour ago. Lynn did not think she would make it to Dodge City last night after the hour of finding another axel bolt fiasco. I did not tell her until we were in Colorado that there was a possibility that something could of been damaged and could let loose at any moment but it did not. The S2T brought me home again. It is due for another ignition switch since the key is stuck in it right now. Thanks to Ken I am going to safety wire a couple of key bolts. It could had been a lot worse. The ride today was great. A cool 70 degrees leaving Dodge City, sun and wind to our backs. It made the straight roads seem down right pleasant. I expected to come home to smoke filled skies due to the Waldo Canyon fire but that was not the case. I have not checked the news but I hope they got it contained. Time to do laundry, get mail and relax after our vacation. We really enjoyed it. Frank |

I'm glad everyone had a good time and everyone is making it home safe. Still a few out in the wind, so looking for those to report in.
It is really cool getting to share motorcycling with my son. At the same time I am always concerned for is safety. Talk about a double edged sword.
Ed thinking about painting his bike Parkway Blue, or Mike has got to be a lot cooler right now.

For those of you that asked here is the link to the Bluetooth system Lynn and I used. http://www.senabluetooth.com/products/index.php In my opinion, based on my requirements, it is the best on the market and not as expensive as so called "designed by biker" devices. |

This is incredible reading . . .this is the "Buell of old" . . . pure nostalgia, "get together and just hang out rides" . . . we did these long before the folks from HD starting having the mega-fest rides with inflatable balloons. It's incredible to see some of the folks in these photos. I particularly enjoyed the KU Final Four shirt as I was sitting here wearing one when I read the thread. Congratulations to all for a well planned, fantastic and safe ride that reminds us of how special the S2 is but more importantly how amazing the folks who ride them are . . . . . . must go retrieve mine or get that baby shipped. I'm getting lonely. Court |

What a great weekend! Enjoyed catching up with everybody and riding through the Arkansas countryside Friday and Saturday. Sunday was a day of R&R, then Monday morning loaded up the trailer and headed south. Dropped Jay in Dallas to ride home to Austin, then dropped Jeff in Houston around 7. Made it home around 9 last night. Home Sweet Ranchito! rt |

I am in Wyoming. Came out of the Black Hills of South Dakota on 540 I think it was. Passed the Black Thunder coal mine and now heading north to Sheridan and then over to Yellowstone. Very hot and windy 4200 miles so far. Rode out a thunder storm last night in the tent at Wind Cave NP. Having a great time |

Great photos, I wish I could have been there! Its good to see Frank posting too - glad you and Lynn had a safe trip out and back! Court: I'm sure a relay system of sorts could be set up. I'd be in for a leg from MD or VA or WV to NY...would you prefer having it loaded, or ridden? This thread was inspirational, though - I rode my S2 to work today because of it 177 so far on this tank...man, I wish I had a "fat bag / skinny bag" option for the Ulysses like I do on the S2, I'd love to cut airframe drag and get these kind of miles out of the Uly! And now that the house is rented, I'll have more "free" time...I can finish putting another one back on the road. Co-workers S2T, been barn-hidden for over a decade. If all goes well and it doesn't fight back, I should have it roadworthy by the end of the weekend (or at least ready for new tires). I'll make sure to get him a link to the registry, too. |
